I want to get stuff to review. I want to be able to rotate it so I am not the only one getting it. I want to create a review page specifically for this purpose.

The problem is that I have no idea how to go about it. Some sites I have seen seem to get shed loads of stuff, others just a little....how do they do it? Do they buy it themselves or do the OEM's give it to them?
The person who finds out and gets us hooked up will be rewarded with moderator/equipment overlord status and access to the super secret mod bunker (as long as you're a member here).

PM me if the info is sensitive.

Make it happen peeps! :)

If i were you i'd simply gather the stats from this site. ie: members, arte of new members joining. other genreal traffic and such. As well as a range of skill level of the more atice members. If you can prove that there is a good base here for companies to get there stuff tested by a good section of te golfing community ie: scratch to well the rest of us. I'm sure some companies would offer da goods up for testign /rating purposes.

I think it's important to focus on Canadian reviews. There really aren't enough of those, so it'd be a real niche market.

What's that all aboot ay?
Just an honest, impartial review-- without sway by the OEMs, the major golfing media, the UN, League of Nations, the Catholic or Protestant churches, or the Screen Actor's Guild. At ShotTalk, we just calls em as we sees em...

Slingblade,

I actually work part-time for a component manufacturer and we are starting to circulate our drivers for review. I'm hitting up the bigger sites first that have official equipment review processes (like rankmark, fairwayandgreens, equip2golf, etc). The trouble with a "smaller" forum like this is the ROI of submitting a club is obviously much lower and cannot be guaranteed. We can't be assured any real visibility like we can with the "official" reviewers.

I like your idea of circulating clubs to other members in this community. Trouble here is also guaranteeing ROI. With the big guys, we have a written agreement that their reviews get posted within 1 month of their receipt of our clubs, or they have to send them back. What can we do here?

In any case, I'll think about it some more. Let me know if you've got any thoughts or suggestions. You can email me at [email protected] - please put "Shottalk Forums" in the title.

As I said, we're going with the bigger, more formal, review sites first before we can even consider sending clubs to web forums for reviews. These demo clubs are pretty expensive items!

Thanks
Joe

I'm sure we could promise to review the clubs within a 1 month period. It would also help that Sling put up an independent "Reviews" section of the site, registered with the search engines, etc... You would, without a doubt, get a return by mere visibility. There isn't just the number of registered members to think about, but also the drifters who come through just to read. Anyone, name me another media that will give you multinational exposure for nothing more than the price of product donation. Something to think about.

Perkins (and Sling...?), I would like to officially volunteer to review any of your product line and publish here. I'm very familliar with Alpha'a product line, and have actually recommended them to many. If the quality of your products have remained stable since the Reaction days, then you could find only positives from giving potential customers the ability to read about your wares here. Seriously.

Joe,

You are my new best friend!

Thank you for your candid response. That is something the rest of these clowns are unable to do, as you have probably noticed.

I recognize the fact that "size matters" and perhaps I'll wait a bit.

Most forums, regardless of size have some sort of unstructured review process anyway. Joe Forum Guy gets a new ball or a new set of irons or whatever and they generally share their experinces with the rest of the people on the site. This also trickles down to the friends of the people who have read the "opinion piece" in the form of feed back on the course or to friends and family...."hey I read about this product a friend got and he said....."

So anyway. I'll be in touch and maybe you could get me pointed in the right direction.
