Building a 7 wood?

OK, I ordered the components to build a Maltby CT250 7 wood. The Aldila VX shaft I ordered is obviously too long. My question is, where do I trim the excess length off? The butt or the tip? And how much to I trim? Also, what is needed to trim the shaft with? Any special kind of saw or blade? Any assistance on this will be greatly appreciated.

Regular flex shaft - 2.5" tip trim for a 7 wood
Stiff flex shaft - 3.5" tip trim for a 7 wood.

Butt trim to length.

Wrap the graphite shaft with some masking tape all the way around the shaft, then mark where you want to cut it. This will hopefully keep the graphite from splitting when you get through the shaft.

Then just cut it with a hacksaw. Or a hacksaw fit with an iron cut-off blade.

Don't breathe in the graphite dust.
