I know these are only 360 CCs, but that might not be a big problem for me. I've been using my 3 wood off the tee pretty accurately and getting some really big shots out of it. A smaller driver (compared to some out there) might work well for me. I'm wondering if it can get the distance of the big dogs, though. I mean, can a 360 touch a 460 distance wise?

No reason that it won't. All drivers for a while now are at the limit of COR so there is no significant distance difference. Driver volume is primarily for forgiveness. If this is the driver which gives you confidence, then it is for you.

Hit it before you buy it if you can, and try to get a shaft that suits you.

The size of the head should not effect your distance greatly if you are hitting the ball on the sweet spot of the driver. The larger drivers are more forgiving as their sweet spots are larger allowing you to hit it more often. As long as the driver face is rated up to the Max C.O.R. of .830, your distance should not suffer with a good hit.

That being said, the larger sweet spot of a 460cc driver will likely result in more distance for your off center hits which will increase your average driving distance. An additional benefit would also be a likely increase in fairways hit with the club being more forgiving and decreasing your errors on off center hits.

Think about Tiger and his set up. He switched into a 460cc Ignite as he was having trouble keeping his older driver in the fairway (and to be truthful, is still driving in the tall stuff more frequently than he used to back in 2000.) He stayed with his smaller driver until Nike came up with a 460cc model that could approach the distance he was getting off the smaller driver. Aerodynamically, a smaller head should theoretically be able to be swung faster due to less drag/resistance through the air. If that ball is going further into the woods, you have to dial it back a notch on your swing to try and keep it on the short grass. If forgiveness of the larger 460cc head allows you to swing faster with greater accuracy than a smaller head driver when you have to dial it down a notch, it may be a better selection. If accuracy is not a major problem with your driver, you may actually get more distance from a smaller head.

As clear as mud, huh?

Go find someone who will let you demo the club and see how it works for you. That is the best way to find out which clubs fit your swing.

Thanks a bunch!

The other day I was just smashing them out into the center of the fairway upwards of 260 with my generic 3 wood, so the size of the sweet spot isn't something I'm extremely worried about. I'll go out and demo it somewhere, they're on ebay for less than 130$ usually. I was gonna go for the R580XD (buy it now for 170$ shipping included) because the launchers are still up there. Would you go with the fusion of the R580? I was looking to go 9 or 9.5 stiff in both.

Have you hit an ERC yet?

Sounds like a big fart every time it hits the ball.
