Callaway Fusion irons?

After making the decision to shelve the snake eye's and put the old taylor mades back in the bag I began to search around for some appealing OEM irons so I can get my distance back somewhere close to predictabilty.

I took a fancy to the fusion irons.

I'm not looking for a club to solve whatever problems I have but I want a nice looking set and I want the 8 iron to be back around 150 where it should be and all the other clubs need to follow suit. ;)

I probably won't get anything until mid October or later so I have time to look around at mizuno's, Titleist, Taylormade and so forth.

I saw an article the other day that layed out the winningest irons on tour this year and I was suprised that mizuno was not on the list, TM was number one then Nike, cleveland and callaway, in that order....that sort of subliminal messaging will most certainly play a part in my decision. :D

Your game has improved recently, going by other posts - so any reason for getting new clubs, or just fancy a change?

I'm scheduling a change for around Feb next year.

Ah...gotcha.

But i guess there's maybe an age element to the loss of distance...don't be in denial about Old Father Time, Sling...!

Bullshit.

Look, I broke down 2 weeks ago and bought my first pair of reading glasses and I REFUSE any more concessions to father time!

The replacemnet 8 iron I'm using is still 150 - 155 yards all day long.

Besides, I'm built like a safe. It's gonna be awhile before all that glorious muscle fades away and I'm forced to hit a 7 iorn off the tee. :D

I think most guys are proud enuff to admit they have a beer gut, S... :biglol:

PS.....I think you should consider the X-18's, regular series. They're strange to look at at first, but they sure feel nice. Second choice would be RACs, great clubs.

Heh, good point.

I personally like the Fusions. They look funny, but they sure feel nice off the face.

The only negative for me is the price of them. Up here in the boonies, they're 600 bucks more than X-18's. Sorry, I can't swallow that much. But i'd obviously import a set rather than take a parking cone up my ass here in Canada.

The set I was hitting had DG with Sensicore in them, they felt like a million bucks. And they were alot lighter than my 33's, so it felt like I picked up 10mph swinging them.

What happened with the Snakes? The set I hit about a month ago was better than average when distance was concerned. He had them set up with the new UST iron shafts. Very sweet.

I second the RAC recommendation. Awesome looking, especially the TP's, either in MB or CB, both are sweet. Awesome weighting.

i have the X-18`s in the uniflex at first i thought i might lose a little distance since my old clubs had stiff shafts but now im back to hittin the 8 150.

im also not a little guy either 6` 275. way to much booze and weed in my younger days.

the only thing i might do differnt is go with the pro-series because when i realy try to get into one off the tee i have a tendency to pull it a little and i think they have a slightly closed face on them atleast it looks that way at setup.

i shyed away from the fusions for the same reason as stated above an extra 300 clams and im postive it wouldnt improve my game that much more then the X-18`s.
