Canoe, taking away from golf

My son is here for the summer so trying to be productive, trying to build a canoe

That's extremely cool.

My dad and I actually started almost the exact same project over the winter, although we had put it on hold because of the expense of the cedar (neither of us were exactly sure how to get the cedar strips to curve around the frame). Until we figure that out, it just sits in the basement.

Yours looks considerably better than ours did at the stage where we left it.

+1, good for you Doug, spending time with your son like that.

My Dad built a wooden ski boat from plans the year before I was born. A couple of years back I found a set of plans to build the old Mahogany runabout ski boats and asked if he'd help me do it. He said there was no way in hell he'd ever do that again. That he had lost 30 lbs building the one he built. :laugh:

its a good project for my son and I, a nasty divorce kept us apart for 10 years.
