Cobra drivers.....which one?

A guy at the range let me hit his Cobra driver. While the ball flight wasn't exactly what I am looking for, it seemed super easy to hit.

His driver: M Speed LD Offset 10.5° with the 55gm Aldila NVS shaft in stiff.

I was getting way too much draw, probably due to the offset, but the ball flight was high and went a good 10 yards more in the air than my 905R.

Soooo........should I get the exact same driver as his, but without the offset, like this one?
King Cobra Speed LD M 10.5* Driver Aldila NVS Stiff NEW - eBay (item 350046002832 end time Apr-14-08 22:27:20 PDT)

Not too many of those on Ebay, many more F speeds, but most of them have the NV in regular flex.
King Cobra F Speed 10.5 Driver Aldila NV-F Regular Flex - eBay (item 110241002786 end time Apr-13-08 16:35:00 PDT)

I'm hitting all of my clubs well right now, with the exception of the driver. I'm hitting my 3 wood just about as far as the driver, and I need more yardage.

I'd get the identical one without the offset and that NVS is an excellent shaft. It plays on the weak side of flex so the stiff is right. :)

The other option is the $400 L4V or whatever they call it. That is getting all kinds of rave reviews. :)

MG likes his I believe.

The L4V can be had for much less now that the novelty has worn off. It's no saviour.

I gotta ask tho, Doc. If you hit "x" club, but want to try "X, but a little different", don't you think you might just be blindly shooting arrows?

I would buy the same club, same specs, same shaft. Then, get it to work as you know that it does.

Still loving my L4V X-Speed, High straight bomb's!!! If the L4V is too much $$ then take a look at the HS9 models, plenty of those about at a fair price. :)

The problem is: He had the OFFSET version, you dufe. I was hitting 50 yard hooks into the left woods. After about 5 shots I was able to compensate and hit straight ones, but I don't want to mess about with my otherwise Hoganesque swing.

:D

What is the difference between the HS9 and the LD M Speed? All of the HS9s I have seen on Ebay have had the Graphite Design shaft.

Oh how I hate 55g shafts. I hit them sooo nice at the range. Then, on the course, with my "hit the driver like my 3-wood using the back of my left hand" swing totally gone, the balls fly everywhere but where I want them to go.

Wait, wait, wait.

"The ballflight wasn't exactly what I wanted, but it was so easy to hit."

WTF am I missing here? 50 yard snap hooks? :dead:

I would go demo the Cobra's. And don't be surprised when they're all not the problem. :biglol:

Oh, you wacky Canadians! You missed this:

I was getting way too much draw, probably due to the offset,

And they weren't snap hooks, they were big, high hooks. Beautiful, warm-fuzzy, orgasmic hooks. Snap hooks are those low, evil bastards that turn 90° in 2 shakes. You know, the kind you hit. :D

Semantics. LOL. :D

I still suggest hitting them. I HATED the Speed series when i hit them. Loud, obnoxious and not as long as one would have hoped for the hype. But the LD series has me interested, and I will hit an LV4 before long.

This M Speed LD was LOUD as well. Much louder than any other driver on the range except for one Nike. :D

I would probably put some yarn inside the head.

Sorry for the threadjack - what's up with the Masters weather delay this morning? I don't see anything on the radar.

They seem to be draw machines, I tried the X Speed and couldn't do anything BUT draw it.

Ground fog lasted and hour or two.

All gone now and weather is absolutely perfect.

Thanks. I hope those storms to the west lose some punch before Saturday. Looks like the jet stream is taking the system north, so shouldn't be too bad.
