I was a member of this course before leaving Scotland. It has recently been upgraded with 2 new holes added and two 'pedestrian' holes removed. It's now, I was told, the longest course in Scotland at around 7600 yards...and >7000 from the white tees.
It is the course where Brian Barnes (think John Daly in tartan shorts in the 70's) infamously used a beer can to mark his ball during a competition.
This hole has a rather nasty gorge about 270 yards out...so you play up to it, then over it for a long approach to the final green. It's a lovely finishing hole with a ditch running diagonally across the fairway. I sliced my drive into the trees and had to take a penalty as the ball was unplayable. Even then I had to lay up before the gorge. Hit my approach into a bunker then two putted for a rather nasty finish on my scorecard. Weather was rotten as well, poured all day...
