Wedges are my big ho thing for 2008. So far I've bought a Ping tour-W 56 SW (which is very nice but it's a Ping), and a Wilson TW5 52 gap wedge(which was cheap & is suprisingly good). I was gonna go for a set of the Pings but the price put me off. I've also seen pics of the new Callaway Wedges and if there an improvement on the X Tour wedges then I won't be able to resist getting at least one, so a set of the Pings is out of the question.

Who uses three matching wedges and do you find it a big advantage over playing a mix and match wedges set?

To me its a yes, as theres so much feel involved i want to keep the variables down to as little as possible. And the same wedges does that for me.

The next ho will be a 48* to match my wedge set, not my iron set, but this pw is extremely close to my vokeys so its good.

I agree with Sandpiper MG, I've got a pair of Srixon WG-504 forged in 56* & 60* right now, and I'm thinking seriously about ho'ing a 48* to match them and replace the HiBore hybrid. But then again, I'm seriously contemplating replacing the entire set of irons,. I'd check out the 504's MG, great wedges for the money!

I have 2 vokeys which I use off the short stuff as they're low bounce....but have a callaway sand wedge with lots of bounce for sand and rough so because I use the wedges for different shots I don't need them matched...just need my 50' to be bent to 52' to match up...

I currently have the entire set of cleveland 588 gunmetals....45,51,57 and 60, but in the changes I am making to my bag will be going to just two wedges. I once was an everything had to match guy including bag, but will be going to a mix this season trying to get better and find better fits to my game. The 51 and 60 with spinner shafts will stay, the others will go, and I am looking at picking up a mizuno wedge from MC that will replace my 57. My home course has hard sand and is cut tight around the greens so the 60 with 3* bounce is perfect, high bounce sandwedges only really come into play for me at the beach or on 1 or 2 other courses I play.

Nope, 3 differenet wedges

PW to match the set, ie a 10 iron

Mizuno MP-T gap and a specialist Ram Grind sand iron

+1, plus I am pretty OCD about stuff matching just for the sake of looks, hehe.

My wedges (aside from 10-iron) are all the same. I like the way they look that way in the back, but I also feel like I have a more consistent attack. The 52 56 and 60, being built the same way and whatnot, will have more consistent distance gapes than a 52, 56, and 60 of varying construction.

All my irons and wedges match and are made from the same forged 1030 carbon steel to keep the feel the same with all my clubs

I agree, with this, my wedges currently match, but that is just because I bought them both at the same time. I use my wedges for different kind of shots so it doesn't really matter to me if they match or not. But with that being said, my wedges are staying in my bag for awhile.

BTW, I voted yes as well

My pw came with the irons but my sw while it's a cleveland doesn't match the rest nor does the 58º vokey.

While I strongly feel golf is very much a personal preference sport, it makes logical sense to have matching wedges, assuming they all feel the same.

That's somewhat the goal, to take some of the guesswork out of this godforsaken game, right?
