Well, Devin did the DC&P competition today. He won the chipping and putting competitions and got some cool Golf Channel medals. He also tied for 3rd overall, but blew up in the plyoff. He is absolutely floatin, he's so proud of himself. And I'm the beaming proud father.

Outstanding.

He didn't win the drive? Get those other kid's drivers checked for exceeding C.O.R. limits.... ;)

Nice work, Pops!

Thanks all. It will be on local TV. He would have been on national if he had won the playoff and gotten the invite to the national shindig.

The other drivers are under investigation for both COR and steroids.

Cool BD.
Any footage of the Boy Wonder at the top or at impact? What age is he?
Ask him for some tips for my putting. I remember when I was a kid I could putt the socks off anyone. Then my focus switched to trying to hit the ball a distance and I lost my feel. Seemed more important to hit the ball miles than get it in the hole in the fewest number of shots.

Good on him for NOT winning the driving!

T'anks IG. No footage as of yet, but it is coming. He's 8, and he's actually usually pretty decent with the driving, but has this nasty habit of teeing it up too high and hitting off the top of the club/clubface. That's what happened yesterday.

He's now hungrier than ever to get on "the tour". LOL

Congrats to both of you! He'll be kickin' your butt in no time.

How does that work, tho? If he won both the chip and putt, how come 3rd overall (I presume in his age group)?

He'll be wantin' the ProV1s now. :D

Congrats BD.

My girls never took to golf but I still remember how great it felt when they won a race or qualified for Regionals or State. Enjoy it.

The grandson will be two in July so it won't be long before I can be overbearing and pressure him to enjoy the game. Swing the club damnit! :p

Best I can tell, they get one point for first place in a competition, two for secon, etc... They then add up the points from all 3 competitions and the lower point values place the best. Devin apparently ranked low enough in driving that it dropped him down into 3rd tie in his age group overall.

Bummer. Stroke play rather than match play. I see him up 2&1. ;)

The funny thing is that while kicking off the whole shindig, they felt the need to lecture us parents on the integrity of the game, being good role models for the kids and showing true sportsmanship. My internal translater heard this as: "We've had too many a##hole parents make too big of scenes to not make this speech right now, so no a##hole parents."
