Driver Questions - What to do for an amateur at golf

So I an amateur. I shoot about 120-ish. I have a 3 wood, my irons, wedges and putter. I just need a driver. So these are my options, what do you think I should do?

1)Buy a new driver, probably Ping G10 because it's extremely forgiving and a great driver.

2)Buy a Taylormade Burner for 100 off a friend. It's in great shape.

3)Buy the Burner, sell it used to a store for more than 100, then buy the Ping Driver?

4)Other (your suggestion)

I have attached links to pictures of the Burner so you can tell me what condition you think it is in. I don't know if you can see it but on the third picture there is a ding right where the paint meets the metal. That's the only real flaw in appearance. I could probably clean the driver too and get rid of some of the grass marks. What do you guys think on the value? What would be some good sites to turn this in if it was in my best interest to sell it?

I'd say buy the Burner and use it for a little while. It's actually more forgiving than a G10.

Honestly a new expensive driver isn't going to do anything except make your wallet lighter & look great in your bag. Offer your buddy $75 for the Burner, although even at $100 that's a good price. That club is plenty good enough for anything you are ever going to do.

Buy the Burner, then take the money you saved by not buying a new G 10 and take some lessons. That's the quickest way to drop your handicap. I hope you either meant you shoot 120ish, or that your handicap was 12ish. If you handicap is 120 I bet you need the money you'll save buying the Burner for balls, :D

Haha ya I meant that I shoot 120ish. So far it looks like keeping the Burner is my #1 option. ezra76 you said it was more forgiving than a G10. How do you know this?

Yes I am new. and that's really good to know. That makes me quite happy then that the Burner is the better option of the two

That Burner for $100 is a steal. Take that in heartbeat and get out to the range. :)

Snag the BUrner.

Don't listen to these people who say that new clubs can't make you shoot better.

Blasphemy!!! There is no way a Burner is as forgiving or as long as a G10. Obviously Ez has never hit a G10... :D

Choice no. 1. Buy the G10. :)

I'd go the Burner with some lessons at that level you wont notice the difference between the two

Warbirdlover will tell you than the Ping is more accurate than hand-carrying the ball 300 yards down the fairway and dropping in a preferred lie. No doubt the G10 is a great club, but so is the Burner. Snag that TaylorMade.

WBL sleeps with his G 10 at night, he is totally enamored with it right now. If Ping made cars he'd buy one in a second. But give it a few months and he will be singing the praises of some other driver, :D (no offense J, j/k)

But buy the Burner, learn how to hit it and take a few lessons, that's your best bet.

BTW, if for some insane reason you decide to NOT go with the Burner, tell your friend I'll buy it at that price.
