Driver Shaft Advice.....

Folks,

I was at the driving range on Saturday morning warming up for my round. I was having some issues with my driver and hitting hooks but had just about worked that out when I hit the best drive on the morning. On my follow through something hit my back. I looked the driver head and it was dangling by a few strands of shaft material. The shaft broke right at the hosel.

Anyway, the driver head is a Nike SQ Sumo 9.5º with a Diamana "Blue Board" 83 g4"t Stiff. I need to replace that shaft and I would like one that provides similar characteristics except that I would like a few degrees higher ball trajectory.

Recommendations? Swing speed is anywhere from 100 to 105 MPH with a transition that can be quick although I am getting smoother. I used to hit a fade but I am now fighting a draw to strong draw.

Thanks in advance!

My recommendation would be to try some different shafts on a launch monitor and see what works best.

I am far from an expert on this subject but I can tell you what helped me. I just got a Graffaloy Pro Launch Blue in a Stiff Flex. I struggled with a really low ball flight and a nasty hook before. I used the new shaft on the course for the first time yesterday and the difference was drastic. I was hitting the ball straight as an arrow about 250-270 on average and had a much higher ball flight. The difference for me was night and day. My playing partner was so shocked that he wants to go out and buy a new driver now.

Take it back to the shop you bought it from or contact Nike.

E-mail or Instant Message with a live Nike Golf Specialist by visiting www.nikegolf.com under the "Customer Service" link. Nike Golf Consumer Services can also be reached at 1-888-799-6453, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. PT.

They should replace it. If not, please let me know, so I can tell the 10,000 golfers on 3 different forums how much they suck. It helps to throw that in there, in a little more subtle way of course, when talking to any golf company. I've companies send me a new item and not even ask for the broken one back.

ezra76,

Before you go off half cocked, it would be good to find out the details. Don't you think? I know, it's not your way....

The shaft was removed from a SQ Tour head and installed in a Sumo head. Nike didn't do the work so they are not responsible. It is even possible that the shaft was damaged in the trunk of my car when I had to stop real fast.

Anyway, I asked for advice on a new shaft.....

Folks,

Keep in mind that I need a higher launch angle than what I had with the Blueboard. The Blueboard has a mid/high launch.

Invest the money in lessons and maybe you'll lose the OTT move that's producing hooks and the inability to launch one of highest spinning friggen heads out this year.
