Hi, y'all,

Was just wondering which out of TGI Fridays & Hard Rock Cafe you would recommend, and why. Or are there any more "american style" chain diners / restaurents you would recommend above these two ? Am heading to Amsterdam & Prague here soon, so we are trying to plan everything, even in accordance with meals, so we can spend less time wasting time & money in looking for eateries.

Thanks for your help,
Andy

Why on earth would you want to travel to a foreign land and then eat crap?

I've never been to Hard rock and only did TGIF once in my life. There are enough TGIF knock offs around though so I must have had a similar experience at least a few other times.

So I'd have to say TGIF. It's actually a good place to hang out, eat bar food and pick up tawdry women Thurs.-Sat. :)

I'd say, first, move this thread to off-topic. As for the restaurant, check out the HardRock. The collection of music memorabilia that you will find there makes it more like walking through a rock and roll museum that just happens to have a restaurant inside of it. Like sling said, there are tons of other chains that serve the same fare and atmosphere that TGI Friday's has, but there is only one Hard Rock.

Haven't been to Hard Rock but I've been to Friday's and it's not that great. Of the restaurants like Fridays I prefer Chili's. It's pretty consistant and has a decent variety.

I ate at a place called the Black Angus when I was in Orlando. It was really good. They gave you these little cups of sherbert to cleanse your palette between courses.

I remember getting a huge ass steak. Then the waitress asked me which of the 40 steak sauces I wanted. I knew the steak was gonna be shitty when they have 40 different sauces. Turns out it was fantastic with their house sauce. Who knew?

Anyways, Black Angus. Get the Big Ass Steak.

And eat my supply of shrimp? No way!

As an aside, I went twice during Shrimp Fest. Didn't man up, tho. 140 the first night, only 130 the other night. Pretty weak. The night of 140 I could have done more, but I would have been uncomfortable.

It sounds like alot of food, but once you get into it, they slide down easy.

I will recommend Red Lobster. Great place.

What model sand wedge was it Dave? Just so I can feel the loss...:D

Lunch: FRIDAY’S® CHICKEN
Chargrilled breast of chicken with melted Jack cheese, crispy bacon and our signature sweet-smoky mayonnaise on a toasted bun

Dinner: DOUBLE-GLAZED RIBS
A rack of tender, marinated baby back pork ribs basted with our signature Jack Daniel's glaze, chargrilled and finished with Friday's® barbecue sauce. Served with Friday's® Fries.

...me thinks. can't wait.... :)

Food wise, Friday's would be a better choice. Atmosphere wise, the Hard Rock.

Hard Rock is more touristy, Friday's tends to be more of a local crowd depending on location.

Personally, I would go to Friday's over the Hard Rock.

You Americans...please remember that Andy is from Ireland where a good meal out consists of a pint of Guinness and a bag of crisps (potato chips).

I'm told doughnuts in the US are the size of a small family hatchback in the UK.
