headed out today, great weather, no wind at all, about 70 degrees F i head out with my TA1's not one range trip since i put them back in, as well as taking out my tight lies 7 wood and replacing it with my trusty purepin 5 wood, started off bogey bogey, went par, birdie, and then parred out for a +1 36 (par 70 course) back nine went par, bogey, par the next 4, double , then par out, for a +3 38 74, would have qualified me for state, kinda mad at that, but i played well today, the blades were great until the last couple holes, hit a fantastic 5 wood from 200 out, ball mark was 2 inches short of the hole, ball layed 5 feet beyond that, putt lipped out, had a 5 iron from 180 deep rough that i had to rip out, traced the flag and missed it by what my partner called inches, was driving the ball relatively well, chipping good enough to make some up and downs, scores are on their way down

Sounds like a good day. :)

Casual rounds are most definetly different from tournament rounds under pressure. If you have friends that is similar in skills with you perhaps you guys can put a small money on the line to spice things up a little. (I used to play $2 each nine and $2 overall with my friend)

Also it is easy to score when you're striking the ball well but unfortunately we don't always strike the ball to the best of our ability so it is a good idea to learn to score even when you don't hit the ball so well. Learn to grind for pars and occasional bogeys even if you're just hitting the ball everywhere. When I said grind it is not just being able to chip the ball close to the hole, but to grind mentally and recover from bad shots.

I can definetly relate to you. Back when I played HS and junior golf there would be times where I am just hitting the ball so good and feeling so confident about my game, but when tournaments come I would have a difficult time recovering when my shots would just be off slightly because I wasn't mentally prepared to strike the ball poorly and grind it out.

thats the thing, near the end, i wasn't hitting the ball that well, but was still able to get up and down, and rebound from that double with two pars, that was huge cuz that hole just seemed like it would never end
