the other day i noticed i wasnt turning my shoulders on my backswing, i would just bring the club up and down. so i started turning my shoulders now and i think ive found a theory for my slice. whenever i sliced it felt like my hips were moving faster than my upper body, whenever i hooked it felt like my upper body only moved, and i leaned forward(like if u were going to pick up somethingoff the ground, that kind of forward. and when i hit a beautiful straight shot it felt like evrything clicked. could this actually be true or am i just telln myself thats wat im doin?

From what you describe, hitting straight seems like an accident.
I think you're out-to-in, or too steep in the downswing. So you're either slicing or pull-hooking....

i just dont know anymore, i went out today with my dad and i was slicing more and more often so i went back to wat i used to do wich is just swinging more relaxed and letting the club do the work. and it worked! i was hitting evrything straight and suprising ly far.

This has been something that I've been working on as well. I narrowed mine down to letting my left shoulder(i'm a lefty) come away from my body on the backswing resulting in out-to-in swing. I'm now making a conscious effort to fix it in the backswing. I forget from time to time, but hopefully it will become 2nd nature soon. My drives have straightened out substantially since I started working on this.

hey ill try this tomorrow. i think i have a few reasons y i slice.

1. in to out swing path.
2. hands are open at impact.
3. dont know wat the proper swing plane is.

yeah, I thought of that as soon as I posted it, but had moved on to more important things

maybe I should put the caveat - "assuming a square clubface" - which is a big assumption, obviously

or a big block if you don't release the club LOL

Maybe I should join this forum, this is what I have been doing as of late, I only have had this probably with my irons, and I'm leaving them out to the right, i'm also balloning them a bit because there is no release.
