I took inconsistancy to a whole new level yesterday. I went out and shot 65 on the front 9. Yes, some of the bad shots where getting in my head, and I was starting to get upset. But then I came back on the back 9 and shot 48.:) A 17 stroke difference. I played the last 3 holes even par. (Of course, this means I have to go back out again...)

Anyway, I was wondering, have any of you ever seen a difference like this between the front and back?

Nothing quite that drastic. My most frustrating last year was a round where I was 2 over on the front and went 10 over on the back.

But hey, a bad day playing golf is still better than a good day at work. Welcome to the board.

I usually go the other direction. I have problems with my back, so the longer I play, the stiffer I get. I cannot even imagine playing 32+ holes in a day...

I've done similar things before...I think my best in recent memory was 53 - 43. It's not uncommon for me to go 50 - 44 or something like that. Yours is extreme, but very possible, if you stop caring and just relax, that can really help things.

I stood on the 18th tee staring at a possible round of 71. I was playing extremely well that day.

    Quadruple bogey 8 later and I had a 75.

    This game rules.

Ah...the joy of golf in all it's glory. At least you didn't go 48-65. That is always a downer. In response to your question, the most fluctuation for me has been about 8 shots. I once played in a tournament and shot 46-38. The front nine was so embarrassing. Thank God for the back!

How about this: I shot 31 (-5) on the front today. Then I shot 41 (+5) on the back.

I had 5 birdies and an eagle and 7 bogeys. Psycho. I went bogey bogey bogey on 16-17-18 to shoot even.

If there is such a thing as a disappointing even par round, this would be it.

Well the other day as well as others I shoot say 42 on the front 9. Then I think im ona great course to a great score and get ahead of myself so did not so good oon back 9 ended up shooting 92.

Here are my stats so far this year. As you can see, my stats are better on the front nine for some reason. Course diffculity? Probably. Fatigue? Probably. Lack of interest? Naw!

I was a 3.9 handicap a couple of years ago. I am at 9.4 right now. I just wish I had my software back then so I could compare the stats between then and now.

i shot 34-38 before, that was disappointing, and i've gon 42-37, but usually both 9's are good or bad with me, im either playing well or poorly that day

i think in a tournament this year, i went 56-38 i stopped caring at the turn and everything just turned around go figure
