I'm sure there are many funny golf books out there, and I just found one that had me laughing out loud last night. It's Who's Your Caddy by Rick Reilly.

The chapter about John Daly was sad and hilarious at the same time; the one on David Duval was full of things I never knew; and the one on Donald Trump just confirmed my suspicion that the man is an egomaniac. Twelve chapters and loops altogether.

I found mine at the city library under 796.352 R.

Ironic because I just finished Who's Your Caddy two days ago...thanks to VtDivot who kindly sent it to me.

The chapter on Daly had me guffawing. Also enjoyed the one about Donald Trump and DD. I think everyone here would really enjoy it.

Let's "pass it along" to the group here.

Who would like to read it next? Just PM me with your name and mailing address and I will send it along to you.

Thanks to VtDivot for getting it started here...

Read the intro also, that is some of the funniest stuff.

I liked the first chapter the best I think "Get your mouth off my ball.."

David Fehrety's books are about the funniest golf books that I have ever read. I enjoyed Who's Your Caddy, but Feherty's stuff even funnier.

I've heard Reilly's chapter on Chopra is hilarious too.

I've been looking for the book around here, I think my friend is bringing it for me...I can't wait!

"Dogged Victims of an Inexorable Fate"

Forget author's name, wrote lots of sports books and 2-3 about golf. I believe he also wrote "Dead Solid Perfect", which was made into a TV movie. Many of the same characters in both books.

I have "A Nasty Bit of Rough". It's been sitting on the shelf for about a year. I guess it's time to dust it off and start reading it.

Who's Your Caddie is an awesome book. My favorite chapter was about... Darnit! I forget his name; the gambler who puts vaseline on all his club faces. To me, that was by far the most interesting chapter. None of the pros will play the guy because they're afraid of losing money to him.

But the funniest book I've ever read on golf was David Owen's My Usual Game. He knows what it is to suffer but still continue to love the game. I used to have another book called Divots, Shanks, Gimmes, Mulligans, and Chili Dips; A Life in 18 Holes by Glenn Waggoner. Great book and very funny. Both of the books I just mentioned are a little dated, but they're still very much worth reading.

I've never read one of Feherty's books. I'll have to get one.

You're referring to the poker star Dewey Tomko chapter. That's a good one too.

I could have used this book yesterday on my round: The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf by Henry Beard.

Funny and oh so true.

Exception #3: Frivolous Ball (Gilligan)
If, after hitting an unsatisfactory tee shot, a player exercises his right to play a revisional ball (mulligan) and thereupon hits a plainly laughable shot or one that is demonstrably and ludicrously inferior to the original flawed drive that gave rise to his desire to take a replay, he may, upon declaring his intention to abide by "The Rules of Golf" and desist from further unserious play, pick up the frivolous ball (gilligan) and play his first ball without forfeiting any residual rights he may possess to the replay of another drive at some future point during the round.
