If any of you remember, I'm going to Ireland in about 4 days. This trip packs a very long flight, so I'm wondering if there's any game improvement books out there that any of you have had experience with or can recommend to me. I need something to do for 13 hours!

5 lessons, by Ben Hogan is a great one, but beware his swing if you fight a hard fade or slice because he developed the swing to counteract a hook. If so, a better book may be "The Fundamentals of Hogan" by Leadbetter which details Hogans writings and then describes alternate applications to counteract different problems.

"Swing the Handle" by Eddie Merrins. IF you can find it.

"The Plane Truth for Golfers" by Hardy.

"Golf: The Mind Game" by MacKenzy. Out of print, so good luck finding it.

    Have fun.

Harvey Pennick's Little Red and Blue Books.

Go, read, and play better. :D

    R35

    Zen Golf, by Joseph Parent.

With all of the plane time, you'll be able to do a bunch of the mental drills.

    & Hogan & Penick.

The Pennick books are great choices. I also enjoyed Bob Rotella's books as well, focusing on the mental side of the game). Try "Golf Is Not A Game of Perfect", "Golf Is A Game of Confidence" or "Putting Out Of Your Mind". You will think differently on the course after you read these (at least I did).

    I purchased Zen Golf.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Don't forget to bring us back some pictures! :)

Read? Find a rosy-breasted mattress thrasher & join the mile high club!

    Pball:

Do Not get on the airplane without:

    Golf In the Kingdom

Just buy the book and don't ask questions.

When you get back - let me know how you like it.

    bravo

Has anyone read Rotella's new book - "The Golfer's Mind: Play To Play Great"? I was thinking about picking it up (as I have enjoyed the rest of his books).

Thanks for the other suggestions in this thread. I am travelling for the 4th of July weekend and I grabbed "Zen Golf", "Golf In The Kingdom" and "The Green" (Troon McAllister) for my trip. I am looking forward to them all.

"The Greatest Game Ever Played" is a stunning read. Soon to be a major film! (Cheers, Sling!).

    Where in Ireland..?

If you see a cheery soul shooting level par with his wotsit hanging out, say hello to IG for me.
