I'll be up in Gatlinburg, TN next week for a conference. I hope to have time to play Saturday morning. Can someone suggest a nice, not too expensive course my wife and I can get on that morning?

Thanks.

You need to play Gatlinburg Golf Course (in Pigeon Forge oddly enough). It is truly, truly an awesome course with drastic changes in the layout. It has everything from long, straight bomber par fours, to a 200 ft dropoff par 3, from wide open to tight. It's not very long at around 6200 yards from the tips, but challengin enough. I remember it at around $60ish and worth every penny and more.

On bd's advice, my wife and I played the Gatlinburg Golf Course. Not sure I'd describe it as "awesome," but it sure was fun. I played the back tees since it was a short course.

Probably the quirkiest course I've ever seen, especially the back nine. The 200 foot-high par 3 he mentioned is a beautiful hole with a terraced tee box. I tend to hit my ball high anyway and my 6-iron shot on this hole looked like it went almost an additional 200 feet high. All I could think about was how far below the surface of the green my ball was going to end up when it plummeted back to earth froom 400 feet in the air. (I ended up with a pretty good lie in the trap).

The course definitely fits the touristy, playful atmosphere in Gatlinburg. Thanks for the recommendation, bd. I made some photos I'll try to put up later
