Golfing with long sleeves

My first few rounds here in Minny have required long sleeves. I usually wear a pullover type wind breaker. I ALSO post some of my worst rounds when I wear long sleeves.

Today, I teed it up at 1pm. It was about 63 degrees so I started out with a pullover. Proceeded to post a snowman quadruple and then a triple bogey on the first two holes. I warmed up pretty good after those 15 swings so I took my breaker off and proceeded with just my nice short sleeve Adidas t.

Get this, I started the round 7 over par (71) after two holes. I finished with an 89. Played awesome golf for me after pulling that sucker off. How the heck do people golf with so much restriction in the arms. I believe that was a big part of my better play.

Would have done better of the greens weren't so crappy. Lots of winter kill here in Minny.

Q,

I get this awesome picture in my head of Woody Harrelson in Kingpin when I think of long sleeves. Him in that super tight turtleneck is just gold...

I was afraid of long sleeves and suffered through some cold days in just golf shirts because of it. But, I buckled down and bough a nice windshirt that was made specifically for golf. It has wider arms near the shoulder and allows that sharp shoulder turn through the ball. They're reasonable too, unless you go crazy brand name and blow your wad.

Check them out. They breathe, allow you to swing, and don't make you look like Mr. Munson. Well, the jacket anyways.

Florida? Yeah, when I'm 65.

I'd sooner move to Arizona I think. Who wants to mess with them hurricanes? Sorry Buddha.

Yo Young,

It was windy and I had to stop for heavy rain a couple of times during my round today. Played my second or third best round ever. I shot a 79 last summer during a constant rain. Looks like I need weather like that.

I also find that any garment that restricts my swing totally screws me up.

One factor that is hard to predict is what you are wearing as an undergarment.

I have a Nike rainsuit that works great as long as I am wearing nothing more than a T-shirt or knit golf shirt underneath.

Put on a sweater underneath this and I am bound up like a mummy. This is the challenge we face in January here. We start out in a sweater and if it turns for the worse - and I put on the rainsuit - I am bound up.

I need to try the windshirt thingy...

I broke down and bought the DLIII windbreaker by Polo last year. It's sweet, the sleeves zip off and it's roomy in all the right places. I never even think about it being restrictive. Even so, maybe it's a sign your swing is too armsy?

Dude, this hurricane mess is waaaay overrated. You just need to live off the water a couple miles and buy one of newer homes where the windows are rated to withstand 140 MPH impacts. I'm working up the courage to hit some golf balls at them. :D

It's kinda hard to think about long sleeves since our highs have been in the 90s for the last week. :beach3:

I have a pull over that's very comfortable as long as I just have a golf shirt under it. Anything more and I lose about a club on every shot.

Hey Stink Crack,

Yeah, I thought about that too. That's been a problem I've been trying to overcome lately. Wearing heavy long sleeves makes me want to use my arms more.

By the way, what's up with your ass?

What a drag it must be to live in places that actually have a real winter. Granted here in SoCal it rained for practically three months straight this past winter, but that's a once every 10 year occurence. Out here, if it gets below 68F or so it's time to don some warm weather gear.

I can't imagine what it must be like not to be able to play for months at a time every single year.

See, that's just not fair. My golf season here just started a couple of weeks ago because of piss poor weather and it still stinks. It'll be over in 4 1/2 months too. I need to get the phuck out of this state.

You lucky bastards living in the south (not you Buddha with those hurricanes ;) ) get to golf year round. You should feel priviledged and if you shoot anything over 89 you should feel ashamed as you have all year to practice.

There are quite a few retirees that come down your part of the country every winter. As soon as it starts to warm up they all head back.

We get to play all year but pay for the priviledge with long hot summers. It won't start to cool down again until sometime in October. Not that I would trade places, the heat doesn't really bother me that much.

Feel free to come down next winter and we'll probably be able to play in shirt sleeves.
