Ok, well my golfing buddy, also quite new, hits in the low 100s hig 90s. Anyways sand is hell for him a lot of times he just pickes his ball up throws a fit and leaves the hole. So yesterday on 18 he was in the sand, so I went over gave him my sand wedge, told im to hit behind the ball and get under it with a good followthrough. Well he got in the sand and had the ball a high right foot. I told him no you want it on the left foot, well he said "thats not what ive heard and until a pro tells me different this is how im standing" He then proceded to hit the ball skid it acros the green and stop on the fringe. I told him standing on your right foot makes no sence when you want a high loft shot because it just lowers the club angle. Thats why we drive on our left foot to get more loft. So someone tell me what foot you stand on as it got me wondering. Thanks

I make it a point to stand on both feet at any time while swinging. Sorry, you left yourself open on that one.

I start with more weight on my left foot because you are limiting you hip turn so it helps me get my weight shifted properly. My weight is 60-40 on the left.

Well I mean ball possition. Should the ball be at your left or right foot to make it clear cut.

I play it just in front of my right foot. That promotes a steep swing that you need to get under the ball. If it is too far forward a lot of bad things can happen.

I play it middle back with my weight 50-50. Pretty much the same as Obi-wan Kenobi said :)

There's numerous ways to get out of the sand. Some do it like chipping, others putt...
The classical way, is ball center to left foot, weight on your left side always, deloft wedge, backswing with huge cocking, then swinging with releasing at the very last moment. This is the only way to get out of high bunkers.
But in final, it's all a matter of personal preference.

for me it's open stance, the ball on my left heel and cut it across like a flop shot
