any course that i normally play at or any practice facility i go to have unspeakably slow greens, so i have to hammer my putt to get it even close, now, come time to play competitive golf at other courses, all the greens are way way way much faster, leading to horrid putting days

is there anyway to keep a good stroke for practice rounds, and yet a way to keep one on the green while at a tourney? or am i just gonna have to take my losses

oh and just another question, it might sound crazy but i really think its true, is it normal for courses to keep their putting clock faster than the greens on the course?

You can buy a cheap putting mat. They are usually very fast so you can get a feel for both slow and fast greens.

I doubt you want to try this one but I know a pro that uses 2 putters, they are the same but he shaves 4 grams off the toe on one. The lighter one is for fast greens and the heavy for slow greens.

youngun, many times the practice green will be faster (especially early in the day) because it gets much more traffic.

One tip is to grip down for faster putts and grip further up for slower ones. Give it a try.
