10.2 (using own spreadsheet based on USGA rules). Play mostly at Bear Creek (west course) at DFW airport.

Currently not playing to hcp!!

Scotty - my friend and I have secured a St. Andrews Old Course tee time next June. We'll be staying 8-10 days, and playing a LOT of golf, including Prestwick. We're going to make a trip out to Kintyre and Islay to play Machrie and Machrihanish.

Others on the short list include:
Western Gailes
Turnberry
Scotscraig
Longniddry
Kilmarnock
North Berwick
Comments? And are ther any other courses you recommend as must-play? They don't have to be the Rota tracks. Actually I'm more interested in a little "local knowledge".

Thanks in advance.

Machrahanish is an excellent course... It's probably one of the best in Scotland, but it is quite difficult to get to, as the road is not very great. I like Western Gailes and Turnberry, but if you are in Prestwick, you MUST play Barassie, (might be known as kilmarnock as well). It is an excellent course, and it is almost always in perfect condition.

I'd reccomend, if you're touring almost all of Scotland, that you have a look at Gleneagles and Carnoustie. I'm not really sure about prices though.

Have a look at these, and leave me a message...

Royal Troon is also a very good course. You usually get strong winds on it, which makes it very difficult...
