I don't care what your political view on war is just remember one thing. Don't knock soldiers or armies from any country. They are not politicians that make decision, they are men and women of honour. The soldiers are just doing their duty. And for all you long haired, sandal wearing, flower picking peace nicks read this twice.

That it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.

Now everyone go out and find a WW2 vet and say THANK YOU. Before there are no more of them. Lest We Forget!!

Well, my grandfather is a WW2 vet, and he'd be the first to say you are wrong. He wishes that everything about the war was forgotten.

He carries a vetran plate on his car to remember his fallen friends, not to remember the war. Friends that died protecting what power crazy politicians (both sides) decided from thousands of miles away in the safety of their homes with their familes was to be "protected and occupied for the good of the Commonwealth and the nation".

He told me a story once about invading Italy where the soldiers basically gave up as soon as they landed. They never even fired a shot. They threw their guns down and explained how they never wanted a war in the first place.

No one is a fan of war.

I don't have a problem with soldiers, it's the conflicts that are stupid.

Eliminate the conflict, you don't need soldiers.

It's pretty simple math.

Yeah, let's all sit around a campfire, give each other flowers and be nice to each other.

We should invite Osama and old Bob Mugabe for a start, boy, those guys must have a lot of funny stories to tell. And while we're all chillin', we could ask them to be nice to people. That'd work.

That's where Churchill went wrong. He shoulda had Adolf round for tea and scones.

Chamberlin did the tea and scones bit and we know how well that worked out.

Personally I'm not opposed to nuclear weaponry. ;)

Indeed. It's all well and good for these laid-back types to say "peace, man, we should all be nice to each other"....but I've yet to see one of them make a reasonable suggestion about what to do when war, sadly, becomes inevitable.
