Help me build the bag...

I am so confused as what to put into my bag for next year. For starters let me list what is there to stay... The R5TP will be interchanged with an R510TP so driver is set. The Miura's are not going anywhere. The MP-R may get bent to a 51* but that's staying. So including a putter that's 9clubs.

I was playing a 15* 3W and 18* 5W. The 3wood is long off the tee but hard for me to hit consistantly off the deck. The 5Wood is much easier to hit and I also have a 4Wood that is the best of both. Now I only have a 5iron-PW, no 3 and 4 with the set. These irons are impossible to find and I'd have to spend $600 on an Ebay set to get those 2. Problem is, I am a pretty decent ballstriker. I have a Mizuno MP60 3i and despite the big difference from the Miuras I hit it solid 215-220. Literally bounced it off the round 150 marker off the tee on a 369 yd. hole today.

Ok. Suggestions wanted, ask me some questions... Brands I like and have had success with are TM(obviously), Sonartec and Mizuno. I prefer clubs geared towards lower cappers, my consistancy may not be stellar but my abitlity to work shots is something I am not willing to compromise.

Oh, I'm not. I'm actually thinking more towards hybrids than woods or irons. I'd love to pick up the 4i of my set but think a 3i is better served with a hybrid. I would like at least 1 wood above the driver though, be it a 3 or a 4. 5i is 27* btw and I hit it well from just under 200, flat out carry. I'll pull the 5 and hit is as consistantly as 8 no problem. My question, I guess, is what will best serve my distances and playability from Driver to 5i.

Here's my suggestion. It's a money saver too.

Play these:

"R5TP 10.5* Fujikura Rombax 7W06
Vsteel 15* Speeder 857 tipped to X
Miura CB201 NipponNS1050 5-PW
MizunoMP-R 52-07
Wilson Staff Kirk Currie 2"

Then, spend $100 and go take a few lessons. Trust me, it will be worth the time and effort. One subtle change to a hitch that you don't see can make any of those clubs above a winner.

It's not the clubs, Ez, it's the guy using them.

I'd say add another mizuno wedge. and for the driver- 5i gap i'd suggest going with a 3 wood, 18* hybrid and something that covers the 3 say 22* or so, and try to find the matching 4 iron.

That's what I am playing Rock, minus the Vsteel (head flew off). I have the 200steel 3 and 5W's. Problem is I am hitting everything well, just have a distance gap. I shot 7over on the back and 5 over on the front. Not bad for one of the toughest courses in the state.

I should drop some dough on lessons I suppose. I hit the R5TP well and started pulling the FW woods. They are offset.

Very much what I have had in mind. I'm thinking a 4wood rather than a 3 though. A 4 might lose 10yards off the tee to a 3 but off the fairway it will be much better. My 3 is like a second, shorter but more accurate driver now. Easily the least used club in the bag. I'm even considering 4Wood, 19* hybrid, 3iron bent to 22.5*, no 4iron.

You could try cutting the 3w down an inch or so. I did that and now i can hit it MUCH better off the deck than when it was std. length. AND its a 13*.

Very interesting. I have a 3g strip of lead tape I heated up and molded into the MP-60 3iron. Those might be worth a look. I'll have to hit one at the shop. I was thinking of picking up a 3 and 4 from a more forgiving forged set.

Sounds like these are what you've been looking for. I know Mizuno are offering these as an option on any custom order of there MP range of irons as long iron replacements (like the Ping HL models). Their like a Hybrid for the good player & the biggest plus point of these is they have a forged face & they can be fitted for you, loft, lie, etc.

That will probably be the short-term plan as I already have the 4Wood and a VS proto 95G .370 ready to install in an MD. BTW..... Who do you think you're talking to here... like I never had one... KC2 holes 'em better though.
