After hitting a pretty nice drive with my dad he turns to me and says "I need a real driver - get me one". He plays northwesterns so real is relative here. He is an athletic guy, but has had recent back surgery and I doubt he swings much more than 80 mph. He does not slice nor hook the ball - pretty short and straight. I'm staying around $100 and other opinions are welcome but here is your chance to help me choose which of these three I should pick up for Dad:

1) Cleveland Launcher Ti460 11.5° Offset Dr w/A-Flex Shaft - (eBay item 290188653637 end time Dec-11-07 21:06:27 PST)

2) NEW CLEVELAND TI 460cc DRIVER 11.5 Deg. senior A flex - (eBay item 230201371523 end time Dec-13-07 14:49:17 PST)

3) Taylor Made R5 Dual Golf Driver Senior flex - (eBay item 350003985205 end time Dec-15-07 08:22:22 PST)

He probably doesn't need the offset, so I would go with the non offset cleveland. I never liked the r5. :)

Screw that senior flex crap (unless he's over 80)!

Get him an R flex Burner.....he'll hit it a mile.

If you really think his swingspeed is 80mph, get the highest lofted driver you can. Wishon recommends 13*-17* for the driver with a swingspeed of 80mph (13* with +4* angle of attach, 15* with level AoA, and 17* with -4* AoA) if he hits it straight, he probably doesn't need the offset like Mike mentioned.
given these 3, i'd go with the r5 because of the 12* loft

I will look into the Burner idea. He is a simple guy - won't take to any heads that are too out of the ordinary. It seems odd because he is about 6' 2" and 225 lbs but after a discouraging round of swinging hard he just backed off and started working on keeping it in the short grass so he never did swing very hard. Well now after a big spinal surgery he swings especially slowly - I really feel that he would benefit from the distance of a senior flex shaft, but I could be wrong. I will look into the specs on the shafts a little more. Until then, I'm still up for votes - keep the good feedback coming.
