First off, thank you all for the comments and compliments, they are appreciated.

There is a reason i have not taken this to the local news(i'm not sure if they would run anything on it anyway but thats besides the point) I know my father did a lot of 'above and beyond' work for this company. If my information is correct, he was the third person hired into the company. Worked 6 days a week with 12 hours or more a shift, one because he liked the money, but more so because someone needed to be there as shipping stuff by rail doesn't just stop on the weekend, also because he hated fixing other peoples weekend paperwork Monday morning. By the stories i was told at the visitation and funeral by his co-workers, i realized how loved and respected my father was there. His job title was 'Yard Master', much more respectably well known as the 'Yard Monster'.

The reason i don't take this further is that i don't know if this was the way they would handle this situation for EVERY employee right down to the green horns. I don't want to put them in a position where they are under pressure from the family to do this for their loved one. Now, this doesn't mean i don't want them to treat other employee's as well as they treated my father. However, i can understand where they may want to treat these situation on a one by one basis, and having this publicized would put a major hindrance on that choice.

I choose to reveal this here because this feels much more like a home than a message board although i know full well its public.

Again, thank you all.

Fantastic post. I had no idea there were companies like this anymore. After being "downsized" last early summer I can really appreciate what they did for your family.
