So far(i only have 1 season under my belt) i havent spent too much...

Clubs, bag, balls = 200$
Greens Fes = 500-600$(I play alot of muni golf)
Range Balls = 400$
Clothes = 0$ I play at Muni's...and i already had some slacks to wear to the nicer ones when i go to a place that has a dress code.

However, this season, since i now know that i am going to stick with the game its going to be a complete overhaul of the bag including a new bag....so i have no clue how much that is going to cost me

However, i have and will still spend alot more on my current hobby which includes handgunning, with defensive and combat training, shotgunning(trap, skeet, hunting), Long range rifle shooting, i plan on taking a 1000yd class this summer with a personal friend of mine...right now in my basement i have the following amounts of ammunition

9mm - 2000rds
45ACP- 1500rds
.556&.223- 5000rds
308- 1000rds
12ga- 2000ish rds
All other calibers equal out to about another 1000rds or so...

What, no .50 BMG? ;)

What are you going to shoot at 1000yds? Nothing you've listed is really a long-range cartidge, is it? I suppose a tricked out .308 might work, but there are far better ballistics out there for that kind of match shooting, right?

Let's see...

2-rounds per week (usually 3) = 25 wks X 2 = 50 @ $30 average X = $1500

3 drivers/yr. @ $250 average = $750

Balls probably $300/yr

Gloves and junk = $100

Clothes = $150

Other clubs probably $400

Shafts probably $300

About $3500 a year :dead:

Oh man.. Well I have played 40+ rounds since August and nothing is cheap in the season, I would have to avg at least$60 a round. That is
$2400 with only half the year gone. And this summer I will be playing in tournaments, and mroe golf. I am looking at 100 rounds this year. So

Green Fees: $6000 ish
Clubs: MP-60's BUrner TP, 1 new wedge, and maybe construction of a combo set, since august totals around $1250
Balls: 4 dozen PRO V1/X and 1 dozen Bridgestone E-6+ Totals around $230
Mens club events: $80 + 20 when ever I play with them + Greens fees. So like 15-20 times 20: $400 ish
Clothes for golf: just new shoes :$90

Then just misc to come$500

Estimated Totals:$8470 :faintthud

Why did I have to do this to myself :(

.308 will reach 1000yds no problem. :D

I am currently deciding whether i want to go Class III this year and get an M16, or ifi want to get a .50 BMG, mayb one of the barrett lines...before our next wonderfly democratic retar...i mean president decides that because they dont use them..no one should be able to use them, and bans' the .50 caliber rifles.

I'm an aficianado, but not an expert. I didn't know people were using the .308 for 1000yd. comps. Cool.

As far as Class III, I'm considering it for the investment value. Class III weapons have been on a five-year value doubling for a long time, with no end in sight. I know a dealer in Bradenton who moves TONS of Class III stuff - mostly to LEO's. Very knowledgable guy. He tells of a group of physicians who buys $2,000,000 worth of the stuff every year, and stores it in a purpose-built hardened location. 20% annual return is nothing to sneeze at, and the dealer keeps begging me to get smart and get in. Start with a MAC-11 at around $8,000, sell it in a year for $9,600. Keep trading up and building a portfolio. If I had the cash?

You couldn't drag this number out of me on a public forum. :D

To tell you the truth, I do not keep any evidence when it comes to this matter in the event there is an internal household audit some day.

Too bad golf clubs arnt like this huh?

.308's aren't the best for that distance, but they get the job done. I had R&D precision build me a remington 700P in 300RUM that i was going to use, but i sold it(For 800$ more than i built it for) so i am going to use the .308 to do the class with. I am not competing, its just a long range shooting class.

Also, sorry for the slight hijacking guys....carry on.

.308 is used because most calibers used for 1000 are former military rounds like the .30-06. A .300 Win. Mag woudl be better as would many other rounds. I'd love to own a .50 but it's only useful for these competitions or collecting.

Now back to how much you spend on golf!! :D

Wednesday round of golf and a burger/beer: $50 weekly
Other rounds per month: $120
Balls and shirts: $400
Range: $15 weekly

So, $1500+$960+$400+$450= $3310 for rounds/clothing/balls/practice

Now equipment. I about break even buying/selling. I maybe add $50 a month. I probably buy/sell $5000 a year.

All told, probably between $3500-$4500. Don't show my wife this.

If our wives got wind of this thread, the only balls we would be worrying about are our own, and the rate at which they are turning blue.
