I am really thinking of inviting Besson and Roscoe over to this forum...

I have tested this forum out and I have found that you guys are not really scared of having a good time once in a while.

I even said the swear words (Close your eyes the master) "bastard" and "jackass" and I even have gone so far as to call onetime a Bee Eye Tee See Aitch in my signature.

Pretty much, that is about as far as I ever go, but I have a good feeling you guys wouldn't delete Roscoe's posts or Besson's posts if they decided to join here.

I consider Besson a friend, but I hate Roscoe with all the passion in my heart, and Mr. Pants would certainly agree with me, although he and I have not spoken in about a month, due to the ridiculous changes at another forum that shall remain unnamed...

I am actually thinking of inviting Besson and Roscoe to join here and post...(I have Besson's email address) ...

I am glad to hear that an unworthy son of a rich man has also recently been posting here, as well...

I digress...

Good to see that this forum is up and running well...

In fact, the reason I started this forum was because of whart happened to Roscoe. Mass deletions piss me off as does heavy handed moderation and the like.

You can invite them but I doubt they'll come......they both know this is here.

Besson has been invited. With the history you have with Besson, you know the ties he has with GR and I don't see him jumping ship.

I totally agree.

I'd like to see one last Roscoekast before I die tho. I'd also like to see the old Monty. That whole deletion/turmoil time created quite a rift with everyone where things were taken out of context and just plain made everyone sick. I hate to even speak of it....

I, personally, would welcome them here. Both of them had good content to add to the forum until they had their hands cut off.

bcrowe, I politely disagree with you.

Besson has been emasculated at GR. The fact he is following the "rules" makes me want to crap my pants again. You would think his world revolves around that whole forum by the way he allowed Roscoe to get banned, ... and he still stays there.

Roscoe is a golfer, as much as I and Mr. Pants hate him, so I would stay out of his hair here...

Once they banned Omeletpants, I was out of there. Omeletpants told me he couldn't give a rat's ass about his banning there, and I believe him. He won't come here unless some of the old characters from GR come back here.

I mean, crap, we already flushed out all of the bastards and jackasses from doublegolf.com here. This place could be a haven for the true and the just golfer....

Besson... well he is just Besson, and he won't come here by asking or demanding or anything...

One day he wakes up and says, "Let's start screwing with some people." ... Then he joins your forum. Then some screwball like Creosote gets addicted to golf forums and starts hating on Besson and Jeff Hagner. Jeff makes great clubs. The fact that Creosote complained publicly about his business dealing with Jeff makes him "King of Jackasses" in my opinion... I ramble...

Basically Besson is his own man.
Roscoe should be more pissed off than a beaver that just watched his dam get demolished.

I would.

...

I think that if they post here, they are fearful that maybe some would misconstrue why they posted...

Just begging them to post won't help. You just need to piss them off. I caught a very very small fish a couple of days ago with that nerdy kid that works for his rich dad...

Besson and Roscoe are men.

True, they will come here only they want to.

I can't make them post here, and that is quite true.

Invite them, remember one thing....

This is a golf board, not a soap opera.

The past is the past and in this case I'm not particularly interested in the history behind it.

The old Monty was one that wasn't so full of rage for the system. He clearly has a chip on his shoulder as a result of all that has gone on there.

He's still as loveable as ever today, but he had a different feel about him in the past.

Oppression has killed his spirit.

Rocky:

Right now Francois has both of Besson's testicles in a small leather bag sewn shut with an old shoelace hanging off the handlebars of his mountain bike.

There is an ipod clipped onto the leather bag, and it swings on the handlebars of his $4500 mountain bike as he rides to Con Funk Shun's "Ffun"...

----------

That won't make much sense to anybody unless they know that Francois is a mountain bike lover at heart and the mountain bike forum on consumerreview.com is the largest forum there. Francois also hates golf.

I will post some of the history another night, but I am quite busy doing stuff tonight.

Spank,

Thanks, but I was there to see it first hand, i don't need to see it again.

I also think that if he came here, he would have much more freedom to express his interests, within limits.

For all the "bad" that Monty possesses/possessed, he does have great golf knowledge and experience that could add to any golf forum. Should he choose to post her, fine. If not, no biggie either.

He's a big boy and can hold his own. If he gets sick of GR, he'll leave. I think it's more of a "suck on this" effect that with all the crap he's gone through, he's still around albeit in a "limited capacity" by his old standards.

All the GR stuff is in the past. I really don't care to dig up everything that really is water under the bridge.

Francois may not golf, or even like it, but he is the forum mod and he makes the rules. Like it or not, that's the case.

At least here, you can call the Admin Mod a jerk, and get away with it.....well, get away with it once... ;)

Rocky,

Besson has "traveled" to many forums in the past. Pmantle invited him to one. He has been at another obscure one filled with some limeys...

If the fancy hits him, he will come here...

As far as history goes, I was just going to tell you guys a little bit about Francis Cebedo, the founder of consumerreview.com. He is a cool guy.

And I stand by my previous statements that history is important. It may not interest you, but it may interest one or two others here...

He has a lot of golf knowledge, and so does Roscoe. They would be much more appreciated than me; criminy I haven't golfed in several months...

OK. Promise.

Last time I view or post here tonight... I am too busy...

I just remember some were calling for his head a couple of months ago. Time sure does fly...

I'll be first in line to say that I was a member of that group.

Ultimately, in hindsight, I was out of line. I guess it was some comments made out of frustration during a wide variety of stupid mistakes by posters, mods and Admin. I think i really didn't see what the big deal was until the smoke had cleared and by that time, most of the damage was done.

I had no basis to run damage control, nor did I want to. I've always stood tall on the fact that if GR went into the dumper because Francois pulled the plug, then so be it. It would be no skin off my back. People over there were incensed over something they really had no control over and failed to realize that as little of a contribution that F did make there, he did have ultimate control. Some of us got caught up in the frustration, some so much they got banned. Others just wanted some of the more voiced opinions to settle down. And some just started up their own site.

I came here because I really was sick of the GR garbage. Sling offered an opportunity to be real, to express your feelings like you should be able to, and entertain a group of well educated guys in a forum of golf. I did my best to keep the topics flowing to help draw some attention to ST. I hope my efforts paid off.

As for Besson joining here, I would have no problem. I'm just saying that what happened over at GR wouldn't happen here. We have a dedicated Admin staff that loves the game too.

Just don't jump down my throat if a whole whack of GR guys join up here and Sling starts to delete posts because people aren't following the rules. That's what happened at GR and people went nuts when the mods and admin started pulling rank. And, because they almost never did, it shocked and amazed the slack jawed.

Bring on Besson and Roscoe. This is a fresh start for everyone, and quite frankly with all that's gone on over at GR, it's in a rebuilding stage as well. This would offer both of them a new stage to push their wares, of which many of us buy every day. I, for one, am a big fan of both of them.

I would agree. This site is vastly different than GR for a number of reasons:

1. History - The foundation of this site are cherry-picked members who have a passion for the game and ability to be civil to one another. Newcomers are aware of this and either fall in line or are given the boot. GR has quite a different history. As Besson so eloquently stated, GR is "a public pool" whose seniors members are accustomed to a less civil atmosphere.

2. Management - Sling has done a great job of creating and managing the atmosphere of this site. 'Nuff said. On the other hand, I'm not sure Francis really cares about the functioning of the 19th hole. The intermittent interaction and lack of guidelines are evidence of this.

3. Membership - the size and participation of the members here have created a form of self-governance. On the other hand, GR is a vast amalgam of personalities all struggling for power and identity. We have senior vs. junior members, civil vs. free-for-all, mature vs. immature. Everyone's fighting to rule the roost.

So, in response to your statement, I doubt the same antics we see at GR would fly to well over here. Completely different atmospheres that lead to completely different results. Oddly enough, they both serve a purpose, and I'm a fan of both.

Rock:

Well said. I am of an identical mind. A great golf board must have very active Administration and even handed usage of rules. GR got it's wheels in the ditch because F did not administrate and does not play golf. To say that the rules were inconsistently administered is a gross understatement.

It is my hope that we can get ST to where GR was in its heyday - only better. And I think we can. GR has lost much of its depth...

These golf boards are online "social groups". Once the fundamental golf questions have been flogged to death - what remains is the stuff we talk about - after the round...truly the electronic 19th hole...
