Damn stupid clean air! I hate it! I wish those environmentalist hippies would just go away!

LOL. Our emissions standards are tighter than the "enlighten" countries of Europe. Its my understanding that their vehicles are 20% more efficient because they do not care about carbon monoxide. So which is better for the environment, a car that gets 10 mph, or one that gets 12? And the way they go about cleaning the emissions. AIR pumps? WTF is that?!?

I might be a conservative, but I'm not against clean air.

As most of you know I got the Honda Prelude with the Vtec a few weeks back. Anyway, I love the car and really getting used to it now. I really need to chill out with it though. This morning I got on the highway and opened it up, hit 110 in 3rd and shifting to 4th to let off, State cop right there in the bushes. I thought for sure he was going to come out, I was doing twice the speed limit, so I pulled onto the off ramp for the next exit, slowed to about 45 or so. He didn't come so I took off and drove like 10 miles out of the way to get to work the back way.

I didn't learn my lesson. I drove on the highway this evening up to MA on 195, a winding highway at the beginning from the city. A guy on an older street bike started playing around with me. We slowed down after getting ahead of a few cars and got on it, big time. After the last turn I started to slow down as we were approaching cars up ahead, I was doing just over 120, must have been up to just about 130 through that last curve. I don't know how many CC's the bike was, I think it was + 750 though, I had him on acceleration... of course I think I hit higher rpm's, took it up to 8K in 3rd.

I have to stop screwing around though. Not only is it dangerous but if I get caught at these speeds I can kiss my license goodbye, which in turn would cost me my job as well.

Ez. I like you so take it for what its worth. But you can be the dumbest mother F*ucker on the planet...
The fact that you would tell us this story proves it!!!!!

You could kill yourself or worse kill someone that gets in your way......

I'm dumbfounded at the lengths that you go to to get in trouble...

Knock it the f*ck off before you kill someone else!!!!!

Or at least don't tell your friends about it.

I used to love to do the speed thing too but there's just too much to lose. If you want to go fast, race snowmobiles, motorcycles or something on a track. That's what I did to avoid my urge to speed. And I even won a couple (snowmobile) races!! :)

My biggest laugh is these guys who buy the Ford Focus or Escort

ZX3!!! As if it was "sporty" and fast...

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :D :D

BTW EZ, you might want to get an actual stopwatch because I will tell you there is no friggin way that Honda goes from 50-100mph in under 3 seconds. It might feel fast you but until you drive or ride something with some real balls to it, please put down the hookah pipe.

Plus, indicated speed(what the speedo says) and actual speed(what speed the car is actually traveling) can be grossly different. And no, that honda is NOT going 150...not without some sort of forced induction(turbo or supercharge)

Stock speedo's can be upwards of 20% off and they are always off to show faster speeds...when the speedo says 120 your probably only going about 100-105ish....

I dont know what kind of bike you were racing but unless it was a 250 either he was not trying to race you, OR he really sucks at riding. Any 600 with a decent rider will smoke a prelude, and a 750 or litre bike wouldnt even have to downshift...

I'm not tying to be an ass here but i think you have some unrealistic ideas in your head about how fast that car is. Its definatly quicker than some, but really, its not that fast.

I really hope you do calm down too...i hear too many sad stories about people doing speeds like that and wrecking and not only killing themselves but other inocent bystanders as well. Good luck ez, be safe out there bro.

Just got my first car today. 1996 Grand Am SE. Not really my style, but if it fits me and hockey equipment/golf bag in the trunk than I'm happy. The price I got it for was good too. Mint shape with a v6 so it should have some power, should I need it.

Anyway, if you really have that urge to push your car to the limit find a local drag strip and find out when they have street legal races. It's hard on the car and will probably void warranty, but that's the only safe way.

Though slightly late...I'm with Doc here...

I've raced, been in some positions that would make your stomach lurch. But that was the track.

You want to be cute and go fast? Save it, and do it smart.

You will remember that first car forever. OT, but what does gas cost in Canada?

It's hovering around 1.22 a litre right now. So yeah $4.61 a gallon, if my calculations serve me correctly.

You guys have cheap gas. So does the states. I just got back from ND on a road trip. They're paying around 99.6/L.

Our gas is 5.09 a gallon here.

I don't want anyone to complain about gas prices, because I'm not.
