Every weekend, our group plays early in the morning, at around 7 AM.
Friday, looking at the weather forecast, it says it was going to rain.
As far as I can remember, trusting the forecast is the same as playing casino, so I didn't heed the warnings.
So saturday morning, it was raining. Just some light rain, but that was okay.
Me and my brother took some pullover and rain gear, took everything to stay warm. We head to the golf course... And there were only 6 of us of the group. The others bailed out for some unknown reason...
So merrily we play golf, equipped with rainsuit, umbrella and of course water resistant shoes. I wore also winter gloves, as I had the vague feeling it would be cold.
As we played on, it was raining more and more, pouring spaghettis all over the place. The wind picked up, so much that the umbrella broke as I was fighting against the wind.
So here I was without any umbrella, getting wet. My gloves were getting very soaked, but I had to wear them as it was freezing all over the place. My fingers were getting numb.
Imagine swinging a club with snow gloves, it's really fun!
Not only that, the grip was very slippery, and countless times, the club almost flew out of my hands. I started making pulls and hooks, things I never do.
After 11 holes, I told my brother I wanted to quit. He said "You're not here to play, but to survive".
Right, and now to think it was getting more and more like a Navy Seals training.
At the end of 18th, I happily flew (literally) off the green. As I looked around, there wasn't anyone but 6 of us who played today. The starter said we were brave men. One of the rare positive thing of the day.
I stormed into the car, taking my gloves off. My fingers were pink violet. Woohoo.... And it took about an hour for my hands to get back warmed to normal...
Anyways, kudos for all who read through this long story. All of this to say never again shall I play when it's raining cold....
