Iron set advice

Okay, my youngest step-son is hopelessly addicted to golf thanks to me. However, he isn't very good. Right now he is playing with a cheap set of Acuity irons I gave him just to see if he was interested. For Christmas I want to get him a decent set of either GI or SGI irons. Problem is, I'm laid off right now and money is a little tight, so any advice from my fellow ShotTalkers would be greatly appreciated. He is having trouble getting the ball up in the air, so he needs something high launching with a regular flex shaft.

Also, my oldest step-son is addicted to Callaway, I found a Big Bertha ERC driver for a great price at Rock Bottom Golf, are they any good? I've never hit one so I have no idea.

Thanks in advance

Rock Bottom has Cally Big Bertha 2006's 4-SW on sale for $299 NIP. That should feed his Callaway fix and really help him get the ball airborne. If that is too much, try Callaway Pre Owned or Global Golf for a used set of the same irons.

Just me personally but i would let him play with the set he has now for a year to groove his swing and make sure he is in it for the long haul...he may realize after a while he is bored with it...

just me though...

He has been playing them for almost a year now and if anything is becoming more addicted to it than ever. He is calling me up all the time wanting to come over and play. But every time he swings I cringe waiting for a head to fly off or a shaft to snap,

The lessons would be the best thing for him right now. But sadly, he is 23 and I know he would never show up for them, I have to tell him out tee times are 45 minutes before they actually are just to make sure he shows up on time, :emot-ange

I'd take a look for some older Adams irons on the Bay, Global or 3 Balls.

Is it an ERC Fusion or just an ERC? All the ERC's in the UK were high MOI and now illegal.

These are fairly decent but would need a hybrid 3 or 4 ADAMS IDEA 5-PW IRONS STIFF GRAPH 3 STAR - eBay (item 120344445178 end time Dec-08-08 14:51:23 PST)

These are a good cheap set;- ADAMS TIGHT LIES GT 3-PW IRONS STIFF STEEL/GRAPHITE - eBay (item 190271487000 end time Dec-08-08 17:39:03 PST)

Only think is he may become a Rory fan and a big Skull Belt Buckle wouldn't come cheap :)

Changed my mind these are the ones;- http://cgi.ebay.com/TITLEIST-804-OS...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50
