I have fun anytime I am on the course or the range. I know I am a crappy golfer but slowly getting better. I get frustrated when something that appears to be so easy is actually so difficult. When a rd isn't going well at all, I just try & have 1 good shot or 1 good hole & build off that. If there are some jerks on the course, I wont even bother playing through, will just skip that hole, give myself a bogey...or double depending on how I have been doing that day & move on to the next hole.

It's just a game & if it stops being fun, then it's time to step back & re-prioritize.

Agree totally. Chuck winters is a dick. He always tries to pull that crap with me, but I'm all, "Chuck, you are such a dick" then he backs down a little, but next thing you know he pulls a "Hey, Horseballs, why don't you let me play through?", but then I just usually hit him up with, "No way, dick" and that sets him straight. Except this one time when he was really annoying to me, I had throw out a "Hey, Chuck, STFU dick!" and I yelled it too. I was really on that day...

LMAO. That was pretty funny, GR boy.

I'm beginning to think that Chuck Winters is Horseballs' real name.

Doc....what do you have in the way of upscale public access golf in Augusta?

Although I play at a club, several times a year I will play one of our upscale courses here such as Limestone Springs, Ballantrae or the RTJ Trail courses.

Honestly, I never run into that kind of behavior on these courses. They do indeed have marshalls, but the kind of player that these courses seem to attract are A) decent players and B) maintain a good pace of play...

The ONLY exception to this is the Japanese guys who work at the local Honda plant. There's a group of 16 of them who rotate around the aforementioned courses and I will run into them from time to time. They can be a bit slow but are unfailingly polite....

Maybe if you paid a little more $$ to play an upscale course (that has more active management) and better players - you'd have a better experience...

Your veterinarian must make more money that I do. :D

Seriously, you're probably right. The River is more upscale but I can't afford to play there much at $60 a pop. I mostly play Forest Hills, sometimes Aiken although it is 20 miles each way. Hickory Knob & Persimmon Hill are close to 50 miles each way. With the price of gas like it is, I have to take that into account. I will probably go back to Ft. Gordon after I cool off. :)

Forest Hills looks great. A Donald Ross design for that price is a bargain.

You're right about the prices though....the courses definitely cost more to play....

Ballantrae costs close to $60 on a weekend. About $45 on a weekday. A Bob Cupp design.

Limestone Springs (top 100 public course in U.S. has these rates but it's 25 miles away)

$69 (Tues.-Thur.) Includes Lunch (Replay $35)$79 (Fri. & Sun.) (Replay $40)
$89 (Sat. before 10:00AM)
$79 (Sat. after 10:00AM)

$49 Twilight WkDay (starts 2:00)$55 Twilight WkEnd (starts 2:00)$99 (Tues.-Thur.) Play All Day (includes lunch & range balls)$109 (Fri. - Sun. Play All Day (includes lunch & range balls)

The best deal on Limestone Springs is that Tuesday - Thursday play all day for $99 including range balls and lunch....now that's a bargain for a Top 100 course.

And the RTJ courses are going to run you around $60-$65 too....so I guess the pricing is very similar between here and there....
