I played a new course today on the recommendation of my friend.
Exeter country club in Exeter Rhode Island....don't let the name "country club" fool you, it's a public course.
The course itself is fabulous! Beautiful layout (I'll post some pics tomorrow) but the management is the worst I have seen in several years.
We had a 2:06 tee time and when we arrived we were told they were running 10 minutes behind (yeah, right). and we don't have any carts right now....ok, fine, how about a couple of busckets of balls for the range? say's I.....sorry, they say, we are all out of range balls right now (WTF?)
So we go grab a bite in the clubhouse and tee off at 2:30.
At tee #2 there is a back up of 4! groups for God's sake! This pissed me right off! I can understand a slow course and a backup here and there but on the second hole 4 deep on a par 5? COME ON!
It didn't get any better. It took us an even 3 hours to play nine holes! By this time I am fuming and want to get 1/2 my cash back cause there is NO WAY we are getting 18 in before dark.
I was offered a credit for 9....then I flipped out....I told the flunky that I not only traveled over an hour the get here but also there was no way I would be coming back and I want my cash (mother ****er)! ....blah, blah, blah..short of calling the cops (which I thought of later) there was no getting anything but an invitation to another road trip and an abysmally long round...so I trotted off the try an squeeze in what ever we could before dark.....we made it through 16.....charging all the way,and then gave up.
The crime is that the ourse itself is absolutly gorgeous but the management sucks donkey ass!

ps...I had read a single review of this place from a guy in Texas that said exactly the same thing....too bad I didn't listen to him. :sobbash:
