It's Fall Outing Update Time

I thought I'd bring up the Fall Outing again since there's a good chance that I might make it after all. After a lean first half, the second half of the year is shaping up to be ok.

Plus, and this is wierd, it was my wife that reminded me of it. We were watching coverage of the Hurricane aftermath and out of nowhere she says, "I guess this is gonna mess up your golf trip". I took me a minute to comprehend what she had said so I didn't want to mess up the answer. I mean, if I heard her right she was implying that it was ok with her if I went.

So after waiting a few seconds I managed to reply, "no, it'll be ok because where we're going is 250 miles inland". I was very careful not to say anything like, where I'd like to go or anything else iffy. No response, perfect.

Anyway, no guarantees but I was wondering where everyone else stood and if it looked like we could still pull it off. Since it's Sept. how about if everyone interested gives an update.

Well, since I'm booked in airline-style and have been for some time, I guess i'm still in. :)

With this cancellation of our huge tournament and piss up, I'm looking forward to this. Sort sucks that I won't play for about a month before hand, but I'll come and slap it around Alabama. Maybe i'll even have a couple beers. Maybe.

I don't have to share a cart with Dave, do I? :biglol:

Dave:

I hope to have promising news next week. I still want to do it and hope I can.

I would love to do a "straw poll" here and determine who is serious about attending.

Summary:

1) Travel to Birmingham (airport code BHM) on Wednesday October 12. Arrive anytime during that day.

2) Play 36 holes on Wed, Thu and Friday.

3) Depart anytime on Sunday October 16th to return home.

4) The total cost for three days of golf will be about $300ish. Add your your cost of travel to this.

5) I can get reasonable hotel rooms for about $100 per night including taxes - maybe a bit less. If you agree to double bunk - split your cost in half.

Here are the courses....

http://www.limestonesprings.com/newpage.asp?id=3&page=3

http://www.ballantraegolf.com/

http://www.alapark.com/parks/feature.cfm?parkid=9&featureid=12

All these courses are in excellent shape and the Ross Bridge Course opened only two weeks ago. It is the crown jewel in the Robert Trent Jones Trail and will be the permanent home of a PGA Champions Tour event next starting next May. It has been built to accommodate large galleries and early reviews of this course have been really good...

Ideally, we would have 8 players or 12 players to round it out.

STRAW POLL: Who could come??

I just checked airfare so I'll revisit with the wife tonight and give a better answer tommorow. Double bunking is fine with me especially if Rockford is bring the thong. ;)

I doubt I could do it, even taking the shittiest Southwest flights from Seattle that include bloody 3 hour layovers, it still puts the pricing at a minimum of $260 USD...but I'd also have to get down to Seattle and back and that might be a bit much to ask of el-woman.

Hey Bravo, were you hitting the vodka a little early yesterday or what? :D

Well if the outing is on then I'm in. The only concern at this point is an airline reservation. The return flighs on the 16th are nearly all booked. Lets try to firm things up as soon as we can.

Who else can make it?

I'm in.

As Silver mentions, airfares are pretty crazy, and for me, there's no direct flight from and to MTL...

I tell ya, I'd love to go. I'm pretty sure I'd be the highest handi there though, even if I could make it.

It's certainly at the right time, I'd only miss one day of class. Argh!

How about you Irishes? Not that I'd want a Rider Cup sort of a thing. We'd just get our asses handed to us.

IG, if you come I'll buy two of your books. There you go, now it's a business trip. You can bring Dave as your official interpreter so he can write the trip off too, not that we'll be able to understand him either. You could bring KA as a financial consultant and the trip will be practically free for the bunch of ya. :p

Now that we've settled that we just need one more.

Silver, if you don't come I'll be the only hack there. I'd be nice to have someone to help deflect some of the laughter. :D
