There are lots of nice golf courses that are really expensive to play on,but here;s one you should try. It's on the land given by a sugar baron to the people of Kauai in perpetuity for their health and recreation. Nine holes, about 6,000 yards. Not as well manicured as the resort courses on the island, but very playable. On holes 4-7 there are stunning views of the south coast from the course's elevated location. Number 3 is almost 600 yards long but is reachable in two because it is downhill all the way and the fairways are hard. Trouble is number 4 is a short par 4 back up the hill and you have to hit two monster shots to get to the green.
Cost? True story. I rented a set of clubs, a pull cart, and paid green fees for $9. I didn't drop a zero there. That's one dollar less than then.
If you go to Kauai, play here first.
