Well, it's staring me in the face. The last round of the year.

The courses close locally at 6pm Monday.

Went out this morning at 8:30 with my new irons and slugged my way to a 75.

Lost a ball, took way too many bogeys than I wanted. Putted great. Approach shots need work, but I attribute that to the new irons more than anything.

Driver started out cold, but I was smoking it.

Hit my wedge of the year today. 60* flop, over 75 foot trees to 2 inches. Shortest bird ever.

But one thing stuck with me the whole round. It's gonna be 6 months at least before I get the sticks out to touch the grass.

I spent most of the day remembering back to this summer, the ups and downs, the good and the bad. My playing partner and I recalled terrible shots that we and others had hit over the course of the summer. We laughed, shook our heads in disbelief.

The best part of the looking back was the number of times we laughed and the number of good times we all could recall.

And that's exactly why I can easily suck up 6 months of not playing. The good times keep me longing for more every year.

I love this game. It's never in doubt.

Cheers guys,

Seems like yesterday you've posted your best round last year... I'm feeling for you Rock. On my side, I'm not giving up playing... yet... Maybe in two weeks :(

Well boys, I'll be sure to play for you guys, right up til December 31st, barring snow at Christmas.

Next weekend might be it for me. Unless it stays warm thru October. It usually starts snowing around here by mid Oct

You, and everyone else out on the West coast, can eat me. :D

I've played golf once on Christmas day. It was about 0*, but we did it just to say that we did.

I'm thinking that isn't gonna happen this season. But it would be sweet to have no white shit for at least another 2 months. The Southeast part of the province got nearly 2 feet last week, so I'm thinking not.

Now, time to direct attention to dire situations. Do I re-shaft my Mp-30's with something crazy?:D

Wow. No golf?

It finally stopped raining here today, and I got in some good practice at the range. It's finally cooling off here, down to the 70sF, so golf is a go.

After picking up a 70 pound Lab at work yesterday, and feeling my lower back go SPROING!!, I was unsure if I would be able to swing. But some rest and several prednisone tablets did the trick.

I found that sometimes I get lazy and don't turn my shoulders fully on my backswing, leading to a nasty fade turning into a slice. Does this sound logical?

I also tried out several different putters, to replace my simple blade toe weighted Lynx. The Ping Craz-e and an Anser looked nice, but a generic 3 ball face weighted model for $49 putted the best....it's an inch too long, so I will have to have it shortened before I get it. Maybe next week.

Looking forward to golfing until next July. :)

Rockford, obviously we're not far behind.:(

I was talking to the head greenskeeper at my home course, the Saskatoon West course, and he said the course will likely stay open until the end of October. I hope to get three round in next week.

Moon Lake stays open as long as weather permits. I've golfed there as late as Nov. 16.

The courses don't ever officially close here in Salt Lake, but most of the time during the winter they might as well be.

Today, I played in what is probably the last men's association tournament for me this season. I played in a 2 man scramble. We shot 66 (34-32 6 under) and won low gross in the First flight by two strokes. Cool way to finish the season and worth $180 each!

There may be one more weekly 9 hole tournament...weather permitting. It was too cold and wet this week to play. I went fly fishing instead.

I get to spend some pro shop money this month.

Rock:

It is depressing to read about it...

We are going to find a way to do our late Fall outing here or something in the spring to give you snowbirds a chance to swing the clubs in the offseason...

There are no such things as Eskimos. That's an American term. They're called Inuit.

But you're plan sounds nice! If they old lady and I had full time jobs lined up, we'd be there forsure. Maybe some place like New Mexico or somewhere off the beaten path.

Bravo, I still like the idea of an outing. It would be a great escape...
