OK - this year, I am committed to reviewing multiple courses for the board and posting extensive pictures in addition to a narrative review.

My trip to Scotland looks iffy now for a variety of reasons, but if I DO go, you can count on me for reviews of Turnberry, Muirfield, Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and North Berwick AND St. Andrews if we are able to get on.

Also, here at home - I know many of you have heard of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Supposedly the best course of all will open for play in May of this year and I will take pictures and provide commentary on that facility. One of my Sunday players has seen it and remarks it is great.

Anybody else have commitments on content they will provide?

Shottalk will grow when content is added that others seek...

I'll do my best to review as much equipment as I can. I find myself hitting just about everything out there, and I think I have a decent grasp on good versus bad, and how to remain impartial towards everything.

I'll give everything I can a go and report back. It won't be gospel, but it might help those looking into upgrading this season.

I commit to pics and commentary on the Bear Trace (Jack Nicklaus) courses in Tennessee. Been meaning to do this anyway.

Hmmm I will comment on OT and Irish golf courses when I do my tour in the summer my borther got me and round at OLD head, ÂŁ150 one of the best courses in Ireland.

Well this is my first chance to login all week so it's a perfect time to talk about commitments I guess.

I will be playing one course this Spring that everyone might want to see a review of. Now that I have a digital camera all I have to do is learn how to use it. :D

I'm going to Houston with about 40 guys to play the Tour 18 course there.
For those of you not familiar with it, the course is made up of replica holes of famous courses around the country. Some of the simulated holes are Bay Hill #6, Amen Corner from Augusta, Sawgrass #17 and this courses #18 is a replica of Doral #18, the Blue Monster.

This outing started as an annual trip for 4 guys and has just grown over the years. This will be my first time to go, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks for the replies. Comprehensive reviews of courses, along with photo's that can be permanently posted here will provide excellent content that will draw viewers and posters to the site.

I think we need to get the site out there more, the only people that know about it are the GR ones, sling maybe you could do some advertising.

I commit to getting any pictures that i can of my home course, although a purchase of a digital camera, I commit myself to being a state golfer so we can have a claim of having a H.S. state golfer on this board, i don't really think i could get the word out to anyone but i'll see what i can do, b/c sling has done soo much hard work on this board,

I am going to put a link to Shot Talk on my website, if anyone else has a personal website you should do that too. Hey maybe Sling needs to donate a few hats to some of us to wear on the course! ;)

OK Guys my personal page now has a link to Shot Talk.
Hey it is not a high traffic site but it does get visited and the more people who see the Shot Talk link the better. Do me a favour, if you visit my site please email me and tell me what you think about it. This was my first attempt at building a simple site. It is easy to navigate and has what I want on it, but I would like to get others opinions. Thanks..Rick

Generally very good. I like simple and dislike extreme clutter and sites that make it hard to find what you want. Your site makes it easy to get to where you want to go, and that's good.

    Four small things:

    1. I don't get the "slow play" cartoon
    2. You spelled "views" wrong when hawking ShotTalk (and golfers should probably have an apostrophe after it - golfers' - because they are the personal views belonging to the golfers)
    3. You could do away with the transitions between pages because, while it's nice aesthetically initially, after the first time it's just a waste of time, and most of the time when I'm web browsing, I just want something to open, no pretty transitions needed
    4. Where'd you get the golf wallpapers? I'd like one or two of them if they were at a higher res

Don't go crazy humping the site, I don't want anyone to become a nuisance about it.

I will tell you what I do, I use the web address in my signature line on all the other web sites I participate in, even non golf ones. I get alot of hits from the places I frequent (no new registrattions yet though). I have also handed out my business cards with the address on the back to many golfers I have encountered. I only started this site in August so I was a little behind the curve but I suspect that the same sort of promotion will pay off this year.

Regarding course reviews. This is something I really enjoy. I have posted pics of every course I played last year (pretty much) and enjoy seeing the places where the rest of you play, I think it makes for very interesting viewing.

As for "reviews", per se, I'd prefer not to get married to the concept but if any of you pick up a new toy, by all means, tell us about it.

I am very happy with the the way things are going so far and I think subtle promotion will work just fine. If you like the place and you think some of the people you play with would like it, tell them about it. Don't try going into other golf sites and spam the site. Behave normally at a new site and put a link in your signature line....people will click on it without being told to. :)

Duly noted, changes will be made right now. I moved the Shot Talk link over to my Favourite Links Page.
A for the slow play toon, I don't get it either, but then again maybe it is symbolizing a 4some waiting for a putt to drop or lining up a short one? The one I like is The Bridge!

Most of the wallpapers were taken off sites on the net.

The Joe Thornton one is there because I know him personally, he is a hometown boy. Bobby Orr is there because I met him, he sat with me during a hockey game while I did the PA Announcing, he was there as an agent to sign a JR B player from our team.
The Mustang photos are there because I love that car and badly want one this spring! ( I do work for Ford so I should drive one)
If you do a search for computer wallpaper on any search engine you will find lots of sites, and most offer higher res pictures
