I am new this year to eating, sleeping and breathing golf, so I am still trying to pick up on the lingo of the sport. Please post the definitions to any word, term or phrase, as best you can, that a non-golfer would not know, slang and actual terms. Chances are I don't know it either. It would be a great help. Thanks!

ps....i know what a slice, hook, fade, draw and blade as in "bladed it", but feel free to list if you want for others to see. Your definitions would be more accurate than mine I am sure.

There are numerous slang terms for types of shot...

e.g. A "mother-in-law" = "you're up there, but you shouldn't be..."

a "nipple-tickler"...a shot that opens up the hole....

loads of others like that...

If someone has a bad case of the "hooks" we say they are hitting German golf balls.

Heard a new one Saturday. Whenever anyone hit a good shot, the guys would call out, "golf shot".
