The 17th green at Loch Lomond...that's He Who Must Not Be Named's ball next to the pin...on a par 3. Sadly he made the putt.

LMAO!! Good one Dave. Sure you're on good form these days.
That's Kilted alright, with his woman's 3 wood hoking around in the drink!

Don't tell me that's Mister Bater? The cheeky wee chap!

Isn't Loch Lomond the Scottish equivalent of Augusta National now? Impossible to get on etc??

And I suspected it was Mr. Bater in the photo.

We can ID him now and forever.

If I see him lurking on my back patio...I'll run for my shotgun...where is he anyway...on holiday?

Yeah, The Loch is run by Americans now - the same guy who runs some exclusive setup in the States somewhere, I forget which one. Was always exclusive, but now moved into a different league - I used to know quite a few members and played there with them a few times. The the club asked them for a 6-figure sum to remain members so they chucked it in. Even as a member, you're only supposed to play there a handful of times each year. Goes completely against the grain of the ethos of Scottish Golf. To have one of the best and most beautiful courses on the planet totally closed to the people of Scotland is wrong.

oh..and yes, that's Bater! He had to go back to the States, family stuff. But he has returned to Abu Dhabi now. I may post more photos of him...

I remember that I had heard that story somewhere. People who were already members were asked to pony up more money to re-join.

I'd tell them to put it where the sun don't shine.

I am glad you had a chance to play there when you could...looks stunningly beautiful

Another thing...the caddies there were all single-figure golfers, so no hackers amongst them. Good blokes who knew their stuff - some college kids, some wizened old characters.

Each year they had a "caddies day" where the caddies were allowed to play and have a 36 hole competition....a reward for their service over the year.

Well, and I think this is a crying shame, that has now been abolished. The caddies day, to me, was a wonderfully human touch and I think the Club has lost touch with what golf should be about.

I wanna bump this thread! just had a bottle and a half of vino and reminiscing over old golf days - sadly there will be no golf week to Scotland with Bater this year.

His old man is 70 and Bater and his brothers are taking him to pebble beach.

Sigh. Memories of golf weeks in Scotland!
