How is the swing for a three( long) iron and a short iron...7,8,9..Differ.

That is what I was told....By another duffer....

As well as a Fairway wood compared to irons.

Thanks.

Essentially the swings don't differ at all. You should never conciously try to fashion a different swing for each group of clubs. Set up to the ball correctly turn away and then smoothly turn though the ball letting your arm swing down and thought. The length of the shaft and how close you stand to the ball as a result of that shaft length will automatically give you a sweeping action with the woods and long irons and and increasingly descending strike with the mid to short irons. Any concious attempt to alter your swing will, imho, lead to inconsistency.

I hope this helps

The swings are the same, the ball position simply moves forward in the stance.
