Are low compression balls and rock balls two different things?

West Coast Duffer

Absolutely!!

I've heard the Maxfli Laddie is a good soft ball and the Noodles are except stay away from the new "longest" ones. They won't last even one hole.

Wilson 50/50's were the worst ball I've ever hit. I lost 20 yards on a well hit drive and they flew like a knuckleball.

Most of the low priced Nike's I've tried were okay. Soft distance etc.

Current low compression balls are usually built with a soft cover feel and a soft core.
Which can feel a bit like hitting a sponge to a degree (just not solid) but can suit
a slow swing.

The description Rock relates to a lot of balls that are usually two piece
and are labelled as a "Distance" model etc,,,, and play like a high compression
design, read this as "hard as a rock"

When the weather turns cooler, under 60*, I keep the lower compression balls inside so they're warm when I want to play. The ' laddie' seems to me to be the softest feeling ball of all the balls mentioned.
