Michigan is loaded with great tracks. I believe it is right behind Florida and California for the state with the most golf courses. Quite a few of the premium courses are on the west coast of lower Michigan (Traverse City), Gaylord, and Grand Rapids area; however there are great courses that even people that live here in Michigan don't even know about (so many locally to choose from). On the east side near Lake Huron is a course called The Gailles set up like a true Irish links course, and I understand they have added another one on to that; on Drummond Island off the east point of the U.P. is The Rock; near Brimley in the upper penninsula is a casino course that all my buddies says is great; they all have excellent packages.
Grey Walls in Marquette for you Wisconsin guys would be a nice outing. An outstanding course with lots of elevation changes and beautiful vistas. Normal green fees are $120, but I know they have golf packages with local motels that offer $75 green fees (that was a couple years ago when the economy was good so you may get a better deal now).
