With Tom Watson's shot to the 72nd green missing its target by 1 foot this weekend I got to thinking what was the most memorable approach shot that missed by a foot or two costing the player the championship.
I have a rare cassette tape from the 78 masters where some po dunk local reporter interviewed Ben Hogan and he mentions how at the 1960 US Open at Cherry Hills he misjudged his 3rd shot approach into the 17th hole the par 5 by "a foot and a half". Keeping him from winning his 5th (some say 6th) US Open.
Im wondering what else we could add to this list.
