My frustration led me to aim at the deer and attempt to kill it.

saturday was shaping up to be a great round of golf. I had just driven the first two holes around 250 to 275 yds with my 460 Cobra driver when we came to hole 3. There was a deer on the fairway that was unafraid of us. I proceeded to shank my expensive new ball into the woods forever lost.
BAMM!!! Shank #2, ball #2 lost. The deer raised her head as to laugh at me. The old couple behind us patiently waiting on us to get off the tee box so they can proceed. PRESSURE MOUNTING!!!!!! MY CELL PHONE RINGS!!!
BAMMMMMM!!!!!!
ANOTHER SHANNNKKKKKKKKK!!! WTF is happening to my drive? My golf partner giving me instructions every 10 seconds.

Anybody ever encountered this? I never recovered. I hit my irons well, putted well but my day at the tee box was ruined.
How do you guys get "over" bad shots and salvage your day?

Once I adopted the same pre-shot routine (read about it somewhere) for every shot, it made it easier to overcome bad shots.

If I shank two in a row, I just pick up and throw the ball down somewhere ahead where I could hit my second shot. I hate holding up a group and I don't play for money, just for fun. :)

I call that "should have golf" and indeed I have done that too. Same deal--I play for fun and no need in getting one's ego driven into the ground.

Good call WBL
