My new toy is more fun

Picked up a new toy last night. Got to the range this morning and put 200 rds through, no problems, not even a case over my head.

Gen 4 Glock 19. That's the compact frame 9x19. My aim is a little rusty but I haven't shot handgun in quite a while. This will be the main distraction to my golf habits this summer. Bad news, because I go through a whole lot more lead than golf balls...

The rifle is my S&W M&P15-22. Has same trigger stuff as typical 5.56 AR, field strips the same, etc. I had to go with that over the other .22 AR options because it's the only one that is actually an AR... The Colt doesn't even break down the same. Bunny rabbit control in style. I'm going to put a scope (not sure what) and harris bipod on for precision fun.

Actually my dad built that one. I have a couple that he built and a couple that I built. If you like that one you would drool over the "loveseat" adirondack he built. I'm actually putting a new coat of penofin oil on the chairs tomorrow.

They have (for the most part) worked out the 4th gen bugs now. You have pretty much the absolute best all around CC gun produced currently. Size, reliability, capacity, accuracy, etc all in one package.

Time will tell if all issues have been worked out; I was concerned I would have extraction issues. Not a problem so far but only have 300 rds through it. Couple pics from the range this morning.

This was half a mag at 25 yards, about a second between shots; the shots off the target were NOT me lol. Not too shabby I'd say

This one was at 50 yards, just trying to hit the target... The nice grouping is a full magazine from the rifle (25 rds), firing pretty quickly. That's about as good as I can shoot, I think. It's a 3" group plus that one straggler in the center.

If those are freehand they're petty good! Here's a couple targets from my Ruger 77 MkII all-weather .300 Win Mag in a new Boyds laminated stock that I had the Gander Mountain gunsmith pillar and glass bed and free float. The one hole is actually 3 shots and the other are well inside the 1" ring. Both targets at 100 yards.

Jerry, not sure if you have seen this, but your post made me think of it. Gander MOuntain just recently caved in to anti-gun crazies and cancelled nra shindigs at a couple stores in Wisconsin. I don't much care to talk about the politics involved, but I don't think that having a pro-gun event at a gun store is a political statement... Way to alienate your customer base!

Just curious Jake, do you think it would be wise of them either way? If Gander, as a retailer that stands to profit from both sides of the aisle, wanted to remain politically neutral they would've never booked such workshops while all eyes are on the politics in the first place. Perhaps that's all they are really trying to achieve with this move (remaining neutral), but people from both sides will run their way with it.

I agree, I think if they wanted to stay out of politics they never should have booked in the first place. They most definitely should not have canceled after it was already booked. All that did is alienate what I would assume is the significant majority of their customers. I don't think that even an anti-gun kind of person could blame a gun store for supporting guns, but a pro-gun kind of person can definitely blame a gun store for caving to anti-gun people that don't support either the first or second amendment!

In other words, I think that if they were trying to remain neutral, they made the wrong choice. Either of the two others would have been wiser.

I totally missed this one.

I do quite a bit of furniture building, I did some adirondacks this past fall. I too used Penofin, but wasn't happy. I think it was user perp error as I got a ton of mold. I switched to Sikkens SRD this summer, time will tell how that holds up.
