Already posted this on GR, but seeing as nsherman posted his, I figured we could start a nice little chain of these threads going.

(instead of sucking sling's bandwidth, I just posted mine on my ISP webspace)

I think I've figured out the following problems with my swing:

My grip is screwed (plainly obvious), I come down a bit over the top, and my clubface is almost always hella closed at the top of the backswing (perhaps a result of the grip, haven't had a chance to go look at it lately). I also have to try *really* hard not to straighten my back leg on my backswing.

i hate you......that net makes me jealous. I like the swing very compact and it seems that you would make fairly consistent contact, no? JMO. Neal

Only insofar as that I usually hit the ball (usually). And the net is part of the indoor practice facility that just opened up near my place. All the stations actually have cameras and launch monitors, it's pretty cool. Not too pricey either, which is nice.

If I could swing like that whenever I was on the course, I'd be much happier, because those were two of the better swings.

Sorry only relised this video now

I actually think you have a really good siwng for a 20+ handicap, you throw the club a little form the top and basic flaws that are easy fixed, and I'm sure you will be breaking 80 in no time.

Liek the way some guy in the back ground is taking about food, people form usa and canada sound so different form us. :)

Thanks TM, although in the two months since posting that, the casting is almost totally gone. About two weeks ago, I figured out that I was doing it and have since corrected that fairly significant flaw. It was actually stemming from not having an appropriate weight shift where my shift SHOULD be pulling my arms down, as opposed to my upper body outracing my lower.

Thanks!

Silver, try clearing your hips a little faster on your downswing. In fact, clear your hips at the start of the downswing, your club will be more to the inside.

Loop, exactly what I've been working on with the weight transfer thing.

And TM - they have a free "basic" version that harasses you to upgrade to the premium, but it's still free. I'm actually thinking of upgrading to the premium version to have the side by side comparisons and what not, but even then it's still cheap - like $15 US or something if you get the specials emailed to you from V1.

I will go point by point of things to help your swing.

1.) Hold club much looser
2.) Loose all the tension in the swing, it seems you are a little tense.
3.) This one is really hard to do, don't pull the club at the top start the downswing and let the clubfall with your body.

Your swing looks much better then a 20+ handicap, do you lose alot of shots around the green and inside 100 yards?

Well, firstly, that's not really my swing anymore. I've done some significant revamping since that video was taken, but I do still have some of the flaws inherent there.

1) I do still tend to tense up when gripping - try hard not to, but I'm working on it.
2) Tension is stemming from attempting to correct mechanical flaws that result from my "natural" swing. Tension is reducing as "proper swing" becomes more ingrained.
3) That's exactly what I'm working on right now. Letting the club swing as a result of the weight transfer, as opposed to swinging the club to initiate the weight transfer.

No, that's not where I lose my shots. I lose my shots by being wild off the tee, most of the time. 100 and in is where I generally recover strokes. Having to pitch out every tee shot doesn't do much for scores. My short game isn't fantastic, but it's not the weak spot.

I suffered from a similar tension issue. I had and still do to some extent a very tight grip. All I have done to correct this was change from an interlockign grip to overlapping grip. I find that wheneve i use the interlocking grip I grip the club way way to tightly but if i use the overlap whiel i still grip fairly tightly its no where near like it was the other way.

just my 2 cents.

Grip only with your pinky and ring finger of your left hand. The rest of the fingers of both hands are gripped loose.
