I saw some HX Tour Balls on E-bay for 22 bucks CDN. I figured, for a dozen and "Guaranteed to not be water balls", what the hell. At that price, it's a steal.

The great part was (so I thought) that the guy that was selling them was from my city. Perfect, no shipping either. I e-mailed him and expressed my interest in the balls and that I would be more than willing to pick them up in his best interests. Meaning, I would pick it up at his convenience.

Nope. He wants 8 bucks to ship them. And the worst part about it is that he works less than a block from where I do.

What a dink. I told him to stick it. He can eat his Tours for all I care.

Worst seller ever.

the guy that I've bought balls from locally charges $4 or $5 for "handling" - because he packages and sorts them all and what not...it's a pain, but whatever...I guess he's doing something..but $8 to ship something when you work a block away?

ass

Some of his profit margin was probably figured into the shipping the price.

I went thru a simalar experience with Callaway Preowned a while back. There located in Austin so I called them asked if I could pick up a club I was looking at. I had to go through three levels of supervisors before someone could approve it.

I didn't buy them, so sirry bob.

Sorry, but I don't pay for "handling" put your "buy it now" price up to include that. I don't want to buy a dozen balls for 22 bucks, then pay 4 bucks for handling and then 8 more for shipping, only to have UPS charge me the same on the back end.

Hidden charges are garbage. Be up front about it. My feedback on E-bay is 100% with over 50 purchases and more sales as well. I don't rip people off, plain and simple.

He's still a dink.

I despise deceptive business practices. Especially the TV offers where everything is just $19.95.

They always have that extra something that's free if you just pay the additional shipping and handling. Just pay $8.00 extra for a free $3.00 widget. Brilliant.

Here's my latest from e-Bay....

As I have discussed here, I like the TourTempo sounds. But after trying it for 3-4 weeks, I am convinced that I need to listen to the sounds while I am actually hitting balls. Heretofore - I have been listening to the CD in the car on the way to the range - hoping I can keep the sequence in my head...

My older daughter has a brand new iPod Mini. So, I asked her recently,,,,"hey ya mind if I record 1 or 2 tracks on your new iPod so I can take it to the go...."

OHHHH DAAAAD!! NOOOO WAAYYY!!

So I need a tiny little MP3 player. Something really cheap.

I find the classic No Name Chinese brand on ebay. It has No Reserve....And then you check the Shipping: $20 plus mandatory $4 for insurance. Its being shipped from Oregon.

So now I need to research what these things have been selling for and add $24 to that price to determine if it is competitive. And - all things considered - it still was. I won an auction for a 128MB one for $28 plus the $24 = $52. Still cheap. $4 shipping insurance on an item worth $28 - Dont ya love it!!

So it comes in Friday. My new little toy.

Does not work. So I go to the Seller's Contact Information section and the guy has NO email address listed. Does have phone though....

I call the guy in Oregon and he speaks Mandarin Chinese with a heavy Szechuan accent. Kind of like Ghengis Kahn. Well that was really effective.

Then I contact ebay and say, "Seller No Have Email Address". Bad Ebay Bad.

I am leaving in ten minutes I go to UPS and ship this dude back to Oregon - and hope I get a working one in exchange....

That's almost as good as the "professionally pulled NV 350 tip" that had the tip ground down to 335 that I just bought.

I'm sending it back tomorrow or the next day.

The he has the tenacity to e-mail me back and say:

"I sell my golf balls at cost. Try finding a better deal. I only recover my shipping and handling costs."

What the hell does that mean? So, he charges cost on the balls and recovers his pricing on the back end of shipping?

I'm convinced this guy once worked for UPS, the bastard.

Up yours buddy, up yours.

PS....why am I so worked up about this?....lol.

Well I just got back from the US Post Office. I decided to go there rather than UPS to find out how much it actually costs to send a 1 pound package by Priority Mail 2500 miles - which is the way the dude sent it to me.

Postage Cost: $3.85...He charged $20.

Insurance: Remember that the guy had Mandatory Insurance of $4 on each shipment.

So I asked the clerk how much coverage $4 would buy. The answer: $300.

So the real USPS cost of postage and insurance for this package was slightly less than $5 and he charged $24.

Ya this is the ebayer's MO: No Reserve but by God - I'll make it up on the Shipping and Insurance.

And when you go to his Buyer Rating page - everyone talks about his Fast Shipping!!!!!!! Great ebayer!!!!!!

I could care less about getting the package as long as I get it in a week. I always choose the slowest and cheapest shipping method...

Just what I thought, using the shipping and handling for hidden profit.

Don't get too worked up. Have a beer and relax, you know, a good Texas beer. ;)
