I'm a big fan of Trek bikes. Something that helps when trying to find a Trek. The higher the second and third numbers are (700 vs 730 for example) the better the equipment generally.
I've liked what I have read so far on Trek bikes, except the price that is.

This article might assist with some understanding Jim.

The first part profiles some commuters.

My wife and I both have Trek 7300 hybrids, bought em new and paid just under $500 each. Whatever you buy do not get some piece of crap from Walmart or Target, with bikes you get what you pay for.

I bought my daughter a nice mountain bike last year. Tired of Wal Mart trash. A good local bike shop is a valuable asset.
The one we have here has a sign, for sale or closing by March 31st. :(
