Glad I finally found a golf forum worth posting on. Just curious to get you guy's input. Im 21, been playing since I was ten, and have always had a high loft on my shots, which kinda kills my yardage. Im playing with DCI 981, and Callaway Hawkeye VFT 1, 3, and 5 with firm shafts, but callaway firm plays like other brands regular. I hit the 5 iron around 170 but for the life of me I can never get the 3 iron to go 190ish, and the 5 wood goes over 2 when I hit it well, so Im left with the dilema of not having a club in the bag on those 180-195 shots. Ive been looking at the heavenwoods by callaway, but not even sure which angle to buy to replace the 3 iron. Titleist makes a 504.h i think its called which is like a hybrid but not, and its 169. Anyone have a good suggestion or something of an experiment that wont put a hole in my wallet? Um hoping with another club I can keep the scores in the low 80's. Thanks.

P.S. Im lefty, so keep in mind your sugesstion should be about a year old, or planning for the future....

You'll want to demo several of the hybrids if you're thinking of getting one to replace the 3 iron. Most hybrids play a little longer than the club they replace, so a #3 hybrid should play a little longer than your 3 iron.

I have the TM resue mid and since they've just released the new ones with weights you should be able to get a good deal on them. The hogans are also very good along with several others. You'll really just have to demo to figure out which one's right for you.

I did hit a friends heavenwood once and they are very easy to hit.

You did? Let us know, we'll head over there. ;)

I'm a fan of Mizuno's hybrids, but i'm uncertain if they are available left handed. Good call by Dave with the TM and the Heavenwoods, both are good choices.

I might even suggest a 7 wood. I carry a Great Big Bertha driver, Hawkeye 3&5 woods and a Steelhead III 7 wood, which i love. I can choke up on it and drop it in from about 175, or dial it up to about 215 if I need to.

If you're hitting your fairway woods consistently, it wouldn't be that much of an adjustment for you I wouldn't think.

Just a thought.

hey im a lefty too!

uhhh i would suggest the sonartec hybrid its really good. My dad has a very high trajectory and he hits it very high still, but its long it mite be 2 much club from 175-190 but it might be.

If you are getting such a high loft, what happens if you try and hit a driver from off the deck?

Either I top it, or I make solid contact, but nothing more then the distance of a 3 wood. My distances are funny, like sometimes I feel like I dont shit my weight enough, and by not transfering it I lean back and get loft.
