New reserves

I was looking for a set of irons to have in reserve - I posted a thread a few weeks back about it.

Basically I was hovering between:

Mizuno MP30s
Mizuno MX23s
MacGregor 1025CMs
Maxfli A10/Black Dots
Ben Hogan Apex Edge Pros

After scanning ebay relentlessly and taking a bit advice from you guys I found a mint set of the MacGregors with Rifle 5.0 shafts for £130.

They arrived today after I got back from my round

They are in absolutely astounding condition. The seller said he had used them for 5 rounds before going back to full cavities.....he wasn't joking, there isn't a mark on them.

I am going to have a thump with them tomorrow and then take them in to get an extra inch on the shafts. I'm not sure if they will knock the 690s out of the bag yet but whatever they do they were a great deal. They retail at about £400 over here in the UK.

You'll enjoy them, not sure about the rifles tho... 5 seems a little on the soft side. Are you getting them reshafted with DG S300?

I wasn't planning to......I think 6.0 would be too stiff for me - I'll see what they are like in anger and decide but I am a smooth swinger rather than a basher so they should be fine for me.
